      When the router is launched the forum will have something to share in this matter. Until then those involved in the trial can't say too much.

      Has anyone heard whether or not this new router is intended as an upgrade for all customers, a bit like Virgin is moving everyone to a SuperHub (which isn't super or much of a hub!), or is this going to be an upgrade option with additional cost?

      Only time will tell. My guess is that it will become the default router supplied to new customers and will be available to existing customers as a paid for upgrade (maybe also sent out to existing customers as a replacement for a faulty router, not sure if Sky currently charge for that though).

      If this router is required as a key component of a future (presumably free) service such as multi room streaming then I don't think it would be particulalry fair to charge an upgrade fee.

      Sky have form in that area as I (and I guess I'm not alone), had to buy a solution to enable me to use the "free" Anytime+ service as my router is nowhere near my Sky+HD box.

      I like free additions to my service (which I bet is how it is sold), I just don't like having to pay extra for them when you can't use the supplied equipment you have already paid for!

      For Sky to provide all its users with the new router would cost upwards of 150M. I can't see that happening.
