Nice idea, i actually wouldnt though! Mainly because at some point you would hit the problems with virgin media!

I agree if there would never ever be any contention or overload, sure unlimited speed would be great. but I dont believe anything (to a certain extent should be free as it looses value. incentives like free re-grade to 40/10 would be acceptable as it enhances the service.

I think the 30 is fair, however i wouldnt pay for it, even if i could get it.

I went with SKY broadband originally as I will always have sky TV and loathed to pay BT 20 for something sky could offer for 5 (at the time).

Ive had sky adsl since 2007 and its been nothing but great. Some noise on my line is the most problems ive ever had. that and they wouldnt do fast path

5 adsl (now 7.50) vs 15 adsl from BT is still GREAT.

      I believe the Fibre product should be 15 for 30/2 / 20 40/10 & 30 80/20

tbh I wouldn't pay 30 per month either. I used to do that before I came to Sky, for 3 meg ish

I just couldn't justify the extra price, as I would never use the extra speed anyway.

I'll have to agree with you,if they'd pitched it at 25 a month,I'd of been over it like a rash,at 30 it's just far too expensive, and as people have said,12 month contract or not and the customer service issues aside,a lot of people will just look at the price difference and head to BT. There are quite a tech savvy bunch of us who know about the p2p throttling and the other issues, but I'm quite sure we're in the minority of the population. With people having to watch their outgoings if they want fast fibre they'll go for the cheapest all the time!

It would help when uploading things to the forum, for example.

Sky Fibre Unlimited Pro: Connected at 80,000 kbps / 20,000 kbps
Previous ADSL2+ Speed 19999 kbps 1153 kbps, Line Attenuation 17.5 db 6.9 db, Noise Margin 7.5 dB 8.7 dB
      Speedtest: 17.15MB/s 0.97Mb/s Ping 31 ms

Yes I suppose, but over the last 6 years we have managed quite well. We did have some difficulties on the last server move, but that was a problem that we managed to overcome.

With only doing a server move once every few years, it still wouldn't justify the extra 17.50 per month (and the swapping of Phone line rental etc) for something that would be hardly used.

Anyway, its a moot point, as I couldn't get it, even if I wanted it. No plans for my exchange to be done.

In time all the exchanges will be upgraded. For now it is just a case of playing the waiting game.

re: Sky Fibre Unlimited Pro about to be launched?

I'd love the opportunity to upgrade, but our exchange is way down the FTTC upgrade list on the BT infinity site. We don't even have 21CN WBC until later in the year.

If I was going to get between 40-60 down and 4+ up I'd certainly seriously consider signing up, even for 30 a month.

I think Sky will launch a tiered range of products in the end, Light 40/2 Everyday 40/10 and Pro 80/20. Although inital upgrade of the 17a profile saw peoples speeds increase to alot it wouldnt be worth the extra 10 if the maximum speed you could get was say 50-60 down and 10-12 up. That is unless the give things like better routers (or even better still the ability to use the router of your choice) or static IP address

I have a feeling, that maybe on the cards. That would be a great sweetener.
