I don't think Sky Fibre will push 80 Meg down and 20 Meg up until next year 2013 more likely! I hate it when Sky say you must take their line rental and calling plans, which some peoples don't want to switch over. It rather daft plan.

Try to get BT Infinity without a BT line or Plusnet Fibre without a Plusnet line, or any other fibre ISP without taking their 'calls plan'.

      Oooh!

Actually I don't think I need it yet, just as well as OpenReach say my exchange (Princes Risborough) isn't getting it until June 12. Not bad I guess for a bit of a backwater town.

So should I expect OpenReach to be installing little boxes along the street soon?

Re: Sky Broadband Unlimited Fibre Is Here

Does anyone know how long after a local exchange is upgraded for fibre will sky fibre be available?
My exchange will be fibre enabled on June 30th.

I am already on the unlimited package with sky LLU.

Are you connected to a cabinet or on an exchange only line? Only reason I ask is you say you're 200 metres from the exchange which could be either in the scheme of things. Sky need to have their ISAMs installed then liase with BTO to get a GEA Cablelink installed between their kit and the fibre feeds. This may or may not get done by the go live date though!

Re: Sky Broadband Unlimited Fibre Is Here

We don't know for sure how long it will take Sky to be able to supply SFU or SFUP at any newly enabled exchanges as yet. If could be ready immediately or it could take up to a couple of months.

From what I have heard, BT Retail appears to be able to take orders for fibre products to businesses just before the exchange goes live.

As for Mystic Eddy's concern, use the BT infinity checker to see if you can get a predicted speed for your home. If you are to be connected to a cabinet, it should produce a predicted speed up to 80mbps. However I don't know for sure what the result will be if you are connected directly. Use your address as your phone number is with Sky.

BT Infinity – super fast broadband with a fibre optic internet connection

Edit: Just tried my own number (with Sky) and I got a predicted speed of 62.7 down and 20mb up. So perhaps you may get a response with a Sky number now.

Re: Sky Broadband Unlimited Fibre Is Here

But your on WLR iirc Scubbie which means your line technically is still a bt compatible line anyway so should still be detected by line checkers regardless of who you pay the line rental to, afaik its only a full LLU line like sky's svbn that wont show up on line checkers using the number, but i still dont get how you get a speed estimate anyway if FTTC isnt done by you yet as any numbers or post codes i ever try on any of these checkers doesnt give any speed result unless FTTC is already avail to order for that number/post code.

all i get is Sorry, you're not currently able to get BT Infinity. This may be because your area has not been enabled yet, or your individual line does not support super-fast broadband. Register your interest and we'll let you know if this changes.

Re: Sky Broadband Unlimited Fibre Is Here

Yes I am on WLR3, but previously if I used my own number on BT's line checker I would have got a message suggesting that it was incompatible.

My area is on the list of exchanges to be enabled later this year, but currently there is no obvious activity from the BTO Engineers or anyone else going around installing the new cabinets.

Hopefully all the bugs in the order systems will be fixed long before my exchange is ready.
