Re: Non Sky Broadband Customers Can Now Activate Anytime+

There are quite a few postings on DS and Sky Help Forum confirming that Anytime+ is now active via other ISPs, and apparently one of the Sky pages for Anytime+ now says something like "fast enough broadband connection" instead of "Sky Broadband connection" (but I can't find it now).

      Greetings,

Can confirm it's working and I'm with Demon.

That was after spending 10 minutes trying to figure out why it wasn't, then remembered reading it has to be activated from My Sky once that was done bobs ya uncle.

I may no longer be with Sky BB but still check in from time to time.

Activated Anytime+ at around 2.30pm and it was active on my HD Box a few hours later and downloads seem to be ok through my Talk Talk BB.

Good news for broadband Connect customers too - Sky Anytime+ traffic will not count towards any triggers for traffic management restrictions (but will still be counted in 40GB monthly limit)

Where did you get this from?

Could you provide a quoted source please?

Scroll down and the piece below is clearly stated under 'Here's the legal bit' but no mention of Sky Broadband Connect on the page:

No, it's true. New terms and conditions will be going out very shortly explaining this and more.

Anytime+ content on Sky Broadband Connect packages will not go towards the excessive use policy, but will still go towards the usage cap. This means that as long as you are not already being restricted due to excessive use (e.g. for downloads on your PC) then you will be able to fully utilise Anytime+ during peak hours without fear of repercussions. It has not yet been seen whether you will be affected if you are already on excessive use restrictions, but we believe that you will be affected in this instance.

If you breach the usage cap (40Gb) then Sky will now be taking a more active role in informing Connect customers. They will be warned once after the limit has been breached, and if they continue to go over the monthly limit they will be contacted again to discuss possible additional charges for the overuse. It remains to be seen how active Sky will be in this, but it is their new stance. This will be in general for all Connect customers, whether they have A+ or not.

Anytime+ installation costs will remain the same for both Sky BB and Non-Sky BB customers (40 assisted wired install, 60 for a Self Install wireless connector, Free if you do it all yourself). Sky still wont assist you with setting up 3rd party wireless connectors/bridges.

If your broadband speed is less than 1Mbps then you will be advised to plan your downloads in advance, as they estimate it takes 95mins to download a 90min film on a 1Mbps connection. They also advise using SD quality over HD quality in cases like this.

Sky will be responsible for any settings related to the Sky HD box. If they run through all the checks and cannot resolve any issues you will be referred to your ISP for further support. Sky will not assist with configuration or set up of non-sky routers and broadband services.

All downloads are subject to your ISPs fair usage and download caps, so be wary if you have a low cap or peak time restrictions. Sky are not responsible for you going over your limits.

Thats pretty much everything that can be said just now.
