Sky Broadband Unlimited Fibre launches 12th April 2012

From April 12th, 2012 Sky are introducing Sky Broadband Unlimited Fibre to people who live in a fibre network area. Sky Broadband Unlimited Fibre will cost 20 a month for new and existing customers taking Sky Talk calls and Line Rental.

You could benefit from having faster broadband speeds if you live in a busy household with lots of people using the internet through a number of different devices all at the same time. You may also benefit if you use the internet for 'heavy' online activities, such as HD streaming, certain types of high responsive games or downloading very large files. If your line can't currently support fast broadband, fibre optic broadband could also be a good choice.

If you think Sky Broadband Unlimited Fibre could be right for you please visit the official webpage.

Sky will ask for your landline number so they can check fibre availability in your area.

Limited coverage, fibre network areas only. Sky Broadband Unlimited Fibre will be on sale on sky.com/broadband from 12 April. 50 standard set-up. Wireless router self-set up required otherwise 30 extra. Sky Talk calls packages 0-5 a month. Sky Line Rental 12.25 a month. Compatible line required for Sky Talk otherwise connection charge from 39 may apply. 12 month minimum subscriptions apply. Speeds vary with location and line quality. External factors such as internet congestion can affect speed.

Moxey I registered with my landline number first which was a bit daft as im hardly in, so I registered again with my mobile number. Sky rang my mobile to sort my install out but I checked my landline after and they had rang that first.

Totally unconfirmed, and purely hearsay, rumours have it that Sky Fibre 40/2 could be available to non Sky TV customers for 22.50 per month, although you would probably have to take Sky Talk and Sky Line Rental. It is not clear (if true) if this option would be available from 12th April.

For the time being, you will need to take Sky Talk with any Sky Broadband order, this includes SBUF.

This includes any upgrade from Sky Broadband Unlimited to Sky Broadband Unlimited Fibre.

For anyone who wishes to find out if they are able to get SBUF, please visit the Fibre FAQ where there are links to sites to help you find out this information: Sky Fibre Broadband - FAQ

Works OK for me. Although I don't have to, try copying and pasting the link to the address bar.

There is the obvious difference in monthly price that you would have to pay, but as for connection/setup fees and cost of a different router, there are various rumours circulating that suggest that Sky will be launching with a raft of special deals.

What does appear to be the case though is that if your are in the middle of an existing Sky Broadband contract, you won't be penalised for upgrading mid-term and charged for leaving the old contract too soon. You will however start a new 12 month contract with SBUF.

For the protection of my own rear-end though, we have one example of this forum that I can think of, whether this is the norm has yet to be confirmed from Sky.

Sky Fibre Unlimited Pro: Connected at 80,000 kbps / 20,000 kbps
Previous ADSL2+ Speed 19999 kbps 1153 kbps, Line Attenuation 17.5 db 6.9 db, Noise Margin 7.5 dB 8.7 dB
      Speedtest: 17.15MB/s 0.97Mb/s Ping 31 ms
