The BTO Engineer can quickly tell whether or not there is a dial tone.
Could be. But I think BTO call the customer themselves to get a description of the issue. They don't rely on the information Sky provide..
Don't think I've been escalated to BTO yet. Probably queued in for someone from CST to call me and conduct a few tests.

re: Is This The New Sky Wireless N Router / Hub?

I received a letter telling me it was being done so I called up and explained and complained.

I get noise on my line when the router is plugged in. If the router isn't plugged in and just the phone, there is no noise.

I'm worried if I get bto out and they don't find a fault ill be charged 140 quid.

I have two other routers plugging them into the master and text socket all cause the noise...

Does the noise sound like a modem?

If this is the case, then it is more likely that your microfilter has passed it's best.

The quality of the filters supplied by Sky (and many other ISPs) isn't the best and they can wear out after a couple of years of use.

If you have an unused microfilter to hand, give it a try and see what happens.

If you don't then you'll need to look at purchasing a new one.

I would suggest a filtered faceplate if you have an NTE5 Master Socket. They have much better electronics and last much longer.

Sky User - Which ADSL Faceplate Filter?

Sky Fibre Unlimited Pro: Connected at 80,000 kbps / 20,000 kbps
Previous ADSL2+ Speed 19999 kbps 1153 kbps, Line Attenuation 17.5 db 6.9 db, Noise Margin 7.5 dB 8.7 dB
      Speedtest: 17.15MB/s 0.97Mb/s Ping 31 ms

I said in my last post I have an ADSL nation filtered faceplate. I also have 2 other normal filters, all do it.

It sounds like a high pitched electrical noise on the line and crackling on the line.

Saying that, I've just checked the line and it is better than it was before. Now only slight ticking in the back ground when u push a number.

I sent Sky an email about the Sagem n router and this is the reply i got.

also you were enquiring on the sagemcom router. the routers that we send out would be one of three sagem, netgear or dlink. we cannot be specific of which one you would recieve also if you required a replacement router this would be chargeable at a 28 cost with a 3-5 working day timescale.

What a load of old tosh

I kicked off about the routers that I got as replcements being reconditioned, so eventually after enough noise being made, they sent one out on friday as a special delivery with no cost to me.

Anyone got any ideas whether it'll come through parcel force or standard mail?

If it's being sent via 'Special Delivery' this is a Royal Mail service and they should provide you with a tracker no.

re: Is This The New Sky Wireless N Router / Hub?

When Sky rang me yesterday i was told my D-Link router was sent to me in January 2011 but as i got Sky Broadband in June 2010 this puts the router way out of warranty.

Now it is probably just me being a bit picky with my rights as a consumer but if i recieved a router in January 2011 that means to me the warranty expires in January 2012 not June 2011.

I would love to try the new router as the enigneer that spoke to me said it is a million times above the old routers. Mind he also said the Netgear, Sagem and D-Links were all the same internally which is utter bunkum.

i think i will wait to get a 'new sky router' until we can verify it will be the actual new, new one we get

I really want verification its better sync wise on an LLU connection over the DG934GT.
