      44 HD channels

Sky Real Lives HD left the Sky platform today (19th August) so the launch of Sky Sports News HD will take the total number of HD channels back up to 44. We’re well on the way to reaching our target of 50 HD channels by Christmas with a whole host of new launches in the pipeline.

Sky continues to stay ahead of the competition and we keep on adding more of the HD content our customers love. We’ll be welcoming Good Food HD later this month, with Living HD joining the line-up in September. The highly-anticipated ITV2 HD, ITV3 HD and ITV4 HD channels are also coming soon, so look out for further updates on all these launches in the near future.

More channels to watch more repeats, that have been repeated to death.
Like the Springsteen song lyric, 57 channels and these nothing on!

I'm so glad that ITV4 is going HD.

Can't wait to see vintage programming like The Professionals, The Sweeney, and films like McVicar, Quadrophenia, and A Clockwork Orange on ITV4 in HD.

Yes sky would have been better in spending the money on new programes, instead of all the repeats they keep putting on. I for one will not be paying sky another £10.00 plus for HD channels when the difference on a lot of them is no better quality then SD and the same old content.

      Re: 44 HD channels

BBC 1 HD has been announced for the autumn (November ish?)

It will simulcast BBC 1 and will arrive as soon as most primetime is in HD. They seem to be timing the launch with East Enders going HD which is set for just before Christmas apparently.

BBC HD will continue as now but not show BBC 1 HD programming.

This will overcome problems which are getting more common where BBC hve two things on at once on BBC 1,2,3 or 4 that are in HD and one has to be not simulcast. Eg this happened with Who Do You Think You Are? last night and will happen with Coast next week as Waterloo Road is back and that is getting the simulcast and Coast is delayed a day in HD.

Having two channels (one for BBC 1 HD only and the other for BBC HD from BBC 2, 3 and 4) will alleviate most of these clashes.

Did you have your hand and fingers in the shape of a gun, and shouting, 'dum dum dum' dead loud annoying your neighbours as well?
