This is a discussion on 44 HD channels within the Sky news and announcements forums, part of the SkyUser Announcements category; What's The Professionals? . I'm clearly too young....

You won't remember The New Avengers with Joanna Lumley then?

I remember everyone trying to nick their mums bras to use as a weapon, after one particular episode.

(When I wasn't playing Bodie, it was Gambit from TNA)

The Pros probably did more for the sale of Ford cars than any advertising campaign, especially the Capris. Everyone with a 1300 Capri thought they were just like Bodie and Doyle in their souped up 3 litre jobs. It was a master stroke when Ford offered to replace BL and even gave free cars to the production staff. BL used to lend the cars and take them back after every episode, they missed a chance they sorely needed at the time.

Now as I remember all of those programs, I am of a certain age! So, being deafer than I was then, will ITV HD be running with subtitles?

I would imagine some programs are, however, sometimes the normal original program is screened and then upgraded on the fly into HD

So what you are actually seeing is a fake HD (or a hardware / software generated, rather than actually filmed in HD) so to speak and if the original program did not have subtitles then it is possible that ITV won't add them either.

      Re: 44 HD channels

I believe the term is upscaled. I thought that the way to identify a HD program was to look for the HD icon in the top right of the info? Or does this also include upscaled programmes?

Just wondering, do people here think the HD pack is worth it if you have the sports, entertainment and documentary packs on a 26" 720p HDTV?

I dont think you will see alot of difference on 26" tv. On the 32" I have you can notice slight difference on some programes, on others none. Check it out on the free channels BBC,ITV and see if you can tell the difference before subscribing

Unforutantely I don't have a Sky+HD box and cancelled my sky subscription (although I may be reapplying soon).

Is it possible to get the HD pack later as long as I have the HD box?

edit: I also have a 22" 1080p computer monitor with DVI HDCP, could this show a difference if I sit at my computer desk?
