Anyway, before I left I read another (different) briefing item in relation to the new pricing structure which states that ALL existing customers on MAX would need to re-contract (for 12-months) to benefit from the price reduction. Sorry to mis-lead people. The T&C's haven't been changed yet in relation to early termination charges on broadband, so you can still request a MAC code without any penalty. This (broadband early termination charges) still remains a soon to be added item.....
Is it still the case if you wait till september you will auto go onto the new price?.

And if we just wish to remain on the existing contract at the existing rates?

Re: Sky Launches New Up To 20Mb Broadband Product

Just had the letter about this "improvement".
I currently have everyday and use the sky talk so my 10.00 pm is reduced to 5.00 pm.
Is this new 7.50 cost pm a 2.50 increase to my bill then?
I am a bit puzzled and not the sharpest knife
I dont get anywhere near 20 mb connection and prly wont - - as I get just over 3 mb but use more than the "Lite" option so caught by the short ones as per skys intent?

Yup thats right -- those of us in similar shoes to yourself, ie, not going to gain anything by the higher limits, but using too much to go to the lower version, are all going to be charged more come the change.

I can only recommend looking into the "free for 6 months" broadband unlimited deal currently being advertised on Sky's website, which finishes the end of this month.

Re: Sky Launches New Up To 20Mb Broadband Product

Interesting that Plusnet are doing an 'up to 20mb' product with a 60gb monthly usage - and four months free if you join before the end of the month - for 11.49

Hmm, not too impressed by Plus net, but OTOH another 50 odd saved...Not in an O2 area, so tempting...

      Cheers

This is only on exchanges that BT have upgraded to 21CN WBC, there are still a great many which have not been done yet.

Ah I see - but SKY's 20mb is then dependent on a different transmission type?
      BAIK!

Re: Sky Launches New Up To 20Mb Broadband Product

Sky, as well as O2, TalkTalk and some others, have their own ADSL2+ equipment in the exchanges they have enabled. This is capable of supplying speeds of up to 24Mbs, although most limit it to 20Mb.

Interesting paragraph on bottom of sky's notification. If you take up sky rental offer (half price for 6 months) they guarantee to freeze unlimited broadband price at 7.50 until Jan 2012. That to me means that they are already planning to increase the broadband price again!

According to the T&Cs that offer isn't available to existing Sky Broadband customers, so you can't use it to switch from Everyday.
