Re: Sky Launches New Up To 20Mb Broadband Product

Increasing the maximum speed available to Base users to 20Mb and doing away with Everyday is hardly nothing.

No doubt they are hoping by giving Base 20Mb, these users will quickly use up their allowance and be upgraded and so generate more revenue.

Wonder if my free unlimited broadband, applied as a 10 discount to packages, will stop when I sign up to the Unlimited discount . . .

      ^^^^^^^^
The advice is to do nothing until your discount runs out, then apply for the new rate.

I am pretty sure this is mentioned somewhere on the Sky website and that don't do anything as you will probably mess up your current offer.

      The Official word is-
What if I am currently on an offer for my Sky Broadband Unlimited Service?
Wait until your current offer has expired before moving to the new Sky Broadband Unlimited package - that way you won't lose the benefits you currently enjoy.
      As I said, do nothing

Re: Sky Launches New Up To 20Mb Broadband Product

Sorry if I appear thick after all these posts.... but as an Everyday user, if I wait till Sept when Sky move me to Unlimited automatically there is no new 12 month term. I just get the increase in price. Is that correct?

That's how I see it. Sky can hardly force you to upgrade, charge you more for it and then put you on a 12 month contract. But I could be wrong, stranger things have happened with Sky.

Thanks. I hope so. I'm like many others .. got a looong line and can only get at best 4 Mb. Also gone digital here and can get freeview now. When Sky TV contract is up end of Sept I will be looking at options and dont really want to be in another 12 month term for anything.

Okay, been away for a few days. Anyway, before I left I read another (different) briefing item in relation to the new pricing structure which states that ALL existing customers on MAX would need to re-contract (for 12-months) to benefit from the price reduction. Sorry to mis-lead people. The T&C's haven't been changed yet in relation to early termination charges on broadband, so you can still request a MAC code without any penalty. This (broadband early termination charges) still remains a soon to be added item.....
