exactly, they would get done for false advertising for advertising something that isn't in effect. As we have seen in the past, plans can be binned at a moments notice, so until the 7.50 is live, they won't be advertising it as that.

That isn't, but 5 a month to 7.50 a month for Everyday users is.

So what is the answer to the question I asked? Is bubblegun a SKY employee? I don't doubt the news that Newsreader provides but if bubblegun and employee, then I would take their advice.

Re: Sky Launches New Up To 20Mb Broadband Product

      @ Espio

Currently there are 3 broadband products from Sky:

      1) Sky Base
      2) Sky Everyday
      3) Sky Broadband Unlimited

As from 1st June 2010 there will be only 2 services

      1) Sky Everyday Lite
      2) Sky Broadband Unlimited

Therefore the first post of this thread seems to be correct in answering your question.

Existing Sky Broadband Base customers will be automatically upgraded to the new Sky Broadband Everyday Lite over the course of the summer.

Current Sky Broadband Everyday customers can upgrade themselves to Sky Broadband Unlimited at any time from 1st June onwards, prior to automatically being upgraded in September.

So that just leaves the current Sky Broadband Unlimited customers, who currently pay 10 inc Sky Talk or 15 per month without Sky Talk.

If you want to change to the cheaper pricing (7.50 with Sky Talk, or 12.50 without Sky Talk) on Sky Broadband Unlimited you have to commit to a new 12 month Contract. The first post does not state that existing Sky Broadband Unlimited customers would be automatically switched, during the summer, or even that they would be upgraded in September.

So the way that I now understand it, Sky Broadband Unlimited would now have different price points.

      1) 7.50 with Sky Talk
      2) 12.50 without Sky Talk
      3) 10.00 for those already under contract (prior to June 1st) on Sky Broadband Unlimited with Sky Talk
      4) 15.00 for those under contract (prior to June 1st) on Sky Broadband Unlimited without Sky Talk

Options 3) and 4) wouldn't mean that you have to sign up to a new 12 month contract, but you would be paying over the odds as from June 1st

Re: Sky Launches New Up To 20Mb Broadband Product

I guess any existing everyday customer who frequently goes over the 10Gb limit could be slightly be better off here if they manage my subscriptions correctly:

      (prices ignore sky talk)

On 1 June change down to the everyday lite package (@ 5 a month).
In June and July go over limit of 2Gb any be upgraded to Unlimited from 1 August.
Thats 2 months at 5 and one at 12.5 giving a total for the three months of 22.50 as opposed to the original 30 you would have paid.

Or am i missing a trick here?

Had a letter from sky saying your sky broadband unlimited-save 2.50 a month.
Have to sign up for a year and can do it from 1st June. I think I will do it as there are few options where I live, no 02 or be and in general quite happy with sky broadband

Oh come one, 2.50 is hardly over the odds especially as even 10 PM is stil one of the cheapest services around for an unlimited package.

It would only be a case of continuing to pay what you currently do.

Re teh sky talk, I'm currently on max/unliited & get 16mb and I pay 5 for sky talk.

Can I knock back the sky talk to the free one & keep the 10pm ? (the 2.50 reduction bits aside).

So long as you have sky talk then you get the broadband cost reduction.
Connected at 17Mbps on sky unlimited
