I am currently paying 10 for Everyday as I don't and will not take Sky Talk so an extra 2.50 per month isn't to bad I suppose. At least I can then start to hammer my connection by using the Sky Player.

I can't but help think that these chances are being made with VOD in mind as Sky know that people who are on the Everyday product will probably want to use this service so they are 'upgrading everyone' first as people will easily go over the current 10GB limit.

I've got Sky Talk Unlimited and Sky Unlimited Broadband so i'm very happy at the reduction.

i'm the same as others, max speed on our line is 1mb (if we're lucky) & i only use 3-4gb per month - 2.50 extra per month for nothing, whoopee!

i can't be doing with the hassle of changing & i doubt i'd actually save anything anyway (as they are pretty cheap for what's available in my area) - sky scores again!

We apparently get switched to the 7.50/month product whether we want to or not on September 1st; AFAICT, the only useful part of the upgrade is that the upload speed goes to 1.3 from .6 (for all products, even the free one).

Same for me - except my line won't go above 2Mb. So that's a 50% price hike for virtually no benefit. Still waiting for a Sky FTTC announcement (which I could get) but I bet that will be a lot more than 7.50 a month.

As you mention, we're a "first area" here in Basingstoke for the new fibre services, and I had a call about a month back from BT -- shortly after I'd moved from Virgin to Sky -- promoting it. I'll be interested to see what product Sky comes up with for that -- but I'll be surprised if it turns out to be cost-effective for me to go for it (given my usage patterns).

(As for Sky pricing, 5 a month for a 10GB cap -- I have Sky Talk -- always seemed too good to last. 7.50 is still pretty cheap, but I'm definitely keeping my eye on price-creep.)

Re: Sky Launches New Up To 20Mb Broadband Product

Hey, can somebody attempt to answer my question.

I'm currently on Unlimited and don't want a new contract but I intend on staying with SKY. If I don't take up the offer and wait until September, will I get moved to the new package automatically and get the new price with no minimum contract? Or do you only get the new price if you sign up for the new contract? From what I understand bubblegun is saying, is that if you wait until September, you will be moved across automatically and get the new pricing without the minimum contract.

      Cheers.

Re: Sky Launches New Up To 20Mb Broadband Product

Current Sky Broadband Everyday customers can upgrade themselves to Sky Broadband Unlimited at any time from 1st June onwards, prior to automatically being upgraded in September. And Sky Broadband Unlimited customers will be required re-contract to Sky Broadband Unlimited for 12 months in order to receive the new pricing of 7.50.
I think it means you will sign up for a new contract to accept the lower pricing?

You may as well upgrade earlier and use some of the 12 months up and take advantage of the savings.

Sorry, the internal briefing document makes no mention of a new contract for those customers automatically migrated by September 1st. Only for those who wish to take advantage of the new pricing from June 1st.

Re: Sky Launches New Up To 20Mb Broadband Product

Today's TV ads are plugging 20mb 6 months free then 10 per month for the next 6 months.Strange , if the monthly cost is dropping to 7.50.
