      BSkyB responds to Ofcom statement

BSkyB notes today’s statement by Ofcom regarding the outcome of its Pay TV market investigation. The company confirms its intention to challenge Ofcom’s conclusions before the Competition Appeal Tribunal.

Commenting on Ofcom’s statement, a Sky spokesperson said:

“There should be no doubt that Ofcom’s actions represent an unprecedented and unwarranted intervention.

“This is a marketplace where customers are well served with high levels of choice and innovation. Consumers will not benefit if regulators blunt incentives to invest and take risks.

“After three years of engagement with Ofcom, we now look forward to a judicial process which will apply impartial analysis and clear legal standards.”

      Ofcom is 100% right!

Sky is pure greedy, as sky sports 1 & 2 is far too expensive. Should be 12 a month instead!

I hope ofcom will win against greedy BSkyB in legal action.

Yeh and milk should be 7p a pint as well as Mars bars, like they used to be 35 years ago. If Sky could pay for the rights for Movies and Sports and still make a profit selling it at 12 per month, don't you think they would already be doing that.

Just look how much Sky spend on TV rights for programmes and sports and then look at how they deliver the said programmes, the kit that they use and then all the staff.

Sky are a business not a charity.

No, it should be free, then malcontents like you would have to find find something else to moan about.

If you don't like Sky why don't you leave and pay Virgins extortionate rates for 2nd class content.

Sky spent 1.3billion pounds last year on Sport and Movie content.
They make a profit, but invest a hell of a lot as well.
Its a pity nobody wants to invest money to try and compete with them. Most of Virgins money goes on Broadband because its the only market they can lead in.

They definitely can't lead in F1 - They haven't even got the common sense to make sure that their fuel tanks can actually hold enough fuel to finish a race.

Any Virgin is coming under pressure even there as BT Infinity fibre is 25 per month, a lot less than virgin and is being rolled out at a pace.

As for Sky's investment they spent a huge amount on Battlestar Galactica as co-producer and making more original progrmes. eg They are making Blakes 7 where the BBC and ITV labeled it as "too expensive"

why is sky devide to 2 sports packs as they use to be one single sports pack!

I bet next year could see sky will charging us of 4 single packs: sky sports 1 pack, sky sports 2 pack, sky sports 3 pack, sky sports 4 pack!

I hope we getting freeview with sky sports on it for cheaper !

If there is a market for 4 sports packs, then good on sky.

Where would the premiership be without sky.
Where would HD be without sky
Where would 3d be without sky
Where would digital tv be without sky

Cut Sky's revenue and the development goes, as does all the channels.

That would be a good idea. You could then just pick the Packs that were going to show the sports you want.

I expect Sky will have to raise its charges to us consumers anyway, if they are forced to give away their programs to scroungers like Virgin and BT at low prices.
