      ahhh Poor BT!

They should try getting a human to answer the phone then.

Busby would be turning in his nest.

All the signs are there (and rumours) that Sky will launch Fibre in March, all we can do is sit and wait and hope it is true.

Although that loss is referring to the back end of LAST year:

Fierce competition in the broadband market is expected to result in a reduction in BT's revenues for the three months to December 31st 2011.
Which obviously is prior to Sky launching their fibre product.

Fair comment, however, it also says.....

Conditions are likely to get tougher for the organisation in the near future as Sky rolls out its fibre optic broadband offering and YouView - the internet-connected TV venture supported by BT - presents stiffer competition to its Vision pay TV product.
      March here we come.

      At last! It's official:

Sky builds on broadband growth with increased coverage, 10,000 WiFi hotspots and new fibre launch

Only mentions 40mb download though? Surely 80mb will be offered?

      This is great news.

My exchange is due go "live" at the end of June - just, hope there will be an "cabinet" available and not too far away!

Re: Sky will be looking to run trials of fibre-optic broadband

I had a feeling the announcement might be today. At least we know it's coming now and usefully it's cheaper than BT. Yes the 40mb bit is curious if the others are going to 80mb and since I'm in an area that is going FTTP I wonder what that will mean.

Yeah, at last. It is 20 per month for Sky customers, 30 for non-Sky TV customers.

Also, 50 installation charge, with free Wi-Fi access from The Cloud, and unlimited data with no throttling and usage caps.

Re: Sky will be looking to run trials of fibre-optic broadband

I wonder then, since it's completely unlimited, if they will still be using Sky equipment at the exchange? That is to say, it won't be a resold BT Wholesale fibre service. That would probably be about right for the "30% of homes" figure.
