Some people just do not seem to like a thread that will celebrate it's 2nd birthday tomorrow, especially when they live in a picturesque part of Wales that has no installation date for FTTC or FTTP.

I bet I could get used to not having FTTC/FTTP (and living somewhere like that) a lot sooner than someone could living next to the A1 motorway

Generally speaking, whats the ping advantage of fibre over ADSL?

I mainly game and have a 24ms or 31ms ping to BBC (depending on sky at the time - dont ask me but on some IP's I hit 24ms and on some I hit 31ms).

Would fibre show a significant advantage? My exchange has FTTC enabled atm, I need to check where my cabitnet is but BT recon I can get 26mb down and 10mb up ish.

I'm just waiting for sky to pull their finger out....

My mate is on a FTTC product and gets very similar figures to those, so I guess there's little/no difference either way. No idea on FTTP

They've been trialling it for a while so not a huge surprise that they've launched a product. Still, it's hindered by only being available to a select few with Openreach being behind schedule with the FTTP rollout.

Sky need to pull their finger out and announce something fast because they are looking like also rans at this stage in terms of technology and that's not good for such a big name. I just wish they could offer us something decent that is completely independent of BT.
