Pretty impressive i realise that it probably still needs power and the fibre routing but still.
My RFS date was December 31st but Ive been on Infinity ages now, the RFS dates are database driven and no where near being accurate and just update at the begining of the month, they are ballpark at best.

With BT FON you have to give some of your bandwidth to others on the plan who can then use your connection to go online. I would not be comfortable with someone using my connection, even if they say it is secure. I doubt if this will happen with Sky.

I would have expected a higher connection speed for that distance.

My line is about 800m long.

Sky Fibre Unlimited Pro: Connected at 80,000 kbps / 20,000 kbps
Previous ADSL2+ Speed 19999 kbps 1153 kbps, Line Attenuation 17.5 db 6.9 db, Noise Margin 7.5 dB 8.7 dB
      Speedtest: 17.15MB/s 0.97Mb/s Ping 31 ms

thats what makes me think that maybe, just maybe the line runs from property to telegraph pole up the road in the wrong direction to the cab then down the road to the exchange, wishful thinking but a possiblity

In our thick-walled house the BTFON only goes a short distance - and in my meanness I have put some aluminium between the router and the road ;-))

      That's not very sporting

I am not too sure how it works, is there xMb set aside for BT Fon which you can't use, or is it just taken off when someone is using it? Probably does not matter much if you have a lot of bandwidth, like with Infinity, but if you are on Total with only a few Mb it could be a bind.

Re: Sky will be looking to run trials of fibre-optic broadband

I've been checking the speed on a daily basis since having Infinity FTTC installed almost a fortnigth ago. FON only got implemented a few days ago and there has been no change of speed. Incidentally, we're in a quiet neighbourhood with both next doors with their own BB, so not really being too mean!

Seasons greetings to all and sundry

Quite right! I thought it was so shameful a thing that I didn't want to admit to it too readily ;-)

One word of warning though - port forwarding is broken on HH3, a hardware update is required and although promised there is no roll-out date. Am I beginning to have doubts...
