This country is goosed, and all some people want is fibre broadband.

Reminds me of being a child, no worries whatsoever.

I don't get the bit about using retirement fund finances. Surely this money is already invested at the best rate the fund managers can get. Are they going to be forced to withdraw the funds and invest in the government's pie in the sky scheme.

I also think the emphasis being put on high speed broadband as a means of generating money is more rubbish. Any spare money should be used to build more houses and roads, not in schemes which might generate income in the future for a very small number.

And perhaps that particular goose is cooked as well :-((

Although technology advances are also keeping people in work - it's a very complicated world we live in with so many connected domino's

      Cheers

Just read this thinkbroadband :: Sky expands core network in anticipation of usage doubling by June 2012

As someone already commented there is no need for that kind of bakhaul unless FTTx is due soon.

That is a lot of traffic.

To expand the capabilities from a current 350Gbps to 700Gbps by June next year is obviously a major investment.

I hope that Fibre will be coming soon then.

Re: Sky will be looking to run trials of fibre-optic broadband

I think this is also interesting - thinkbroadband :: Sky has over 3.4 million broadband customers it shows that Sky have only 280,000 Connect customers, not the millions previously bandied about. Obviously someone has made a mistake and included the users who are not fully unbundled, but have Sky LLU broadband, in with the Connect customers. I did not think it was possible Sky actually had millions of Connect customers.

The fact that some 200 exchanges are due to be updated by January '12, will be good news for many of out Connect users.

My usage on Infinity has been the exact same as it was on Sky so you are right, i was sick of crap living in the sticks speeds. We have 4 people using the internet quite a lot thanks to you tube and TV catch up services which seem to be the main culprits, last month my usage was under 70GB.

Any idea how you can find out if your local exchange is being upgraded by 12 January?

sky is also thinking of moving all sky customers away from bt altogether. meaning that if theres a line issue sky can sort it out without having to get bt to sort it
