I'm not sure that it is worth moving country just to get those kinds of speeds though.

BT has invested a lot of money over the years in their comms network. This is another major investment which will be rolled out over a period of time.

Although it is really annoying when some people get their Fibre connection made sooner than others, ultimately it will be rolled out across the country.

Once the initial costs have been re-cooperated, it should follow that the line rental and broadband costs will drop. This has always been the case in the past.

Sky Fibre Unlimited Pro: Connected at 80,000 kbps / 20,000 kbps
Previous ADSL2+ Speed 19999 kbps 1153 kbps, Line Attenuation 17.5 db 6.9 db, Noise Margin 7.5 dB 8.7 dB
      Speedtest: 17.15MB/s 0.97Mb/s Ping 31 ms

China is a big country, I wonder what speed the rural coolies get, you know, the ones who plough their fields with oxen and heat their homes with cow dung?

Re: Sky will be looking to run trials of fibre-optic broadband

I sent an email to sky and got the pretty standard reply:

Thank you for contacting Sky Help Centre.

Sky are currently testing the fibre optic service with a small number of customers to evaluate the service so it we will ready when it is being rolled out nationwide.

Unfortunately I can not give you any dates for any specific areas at this time for a release date but we are working on establishing the fibre optic service.

How on earth can Sky be so far behind, looks like me going back to BT then unfortuantly.

Re: Sky will be looking to run trials of fibre-optic broadband

Well if they are working on establishing a fibre optic service by looking in to their own infrastructure it will be years away, why on earth they dont just offer something based on the BT network at BTs prices is beyond me. At least they wouldnt be losing punters.
