well either way if its 12 months or 18 months id be happy with either contract although 18 months is long but ah who cares lol. in terms of the 50 pound setup hum scary but you only do it once. but would people be prepared to pay 20 a month not so sure but you never know.

Sky will never do 18 Months, never will because Sky know no customers want longer than 18 Months contract

yea true 18 months is to long but other companys do 18 months which is wrong but thats not on this topic anyway. as for fibre who is gonna take it up at that price and activation.

To be honest I am happy with either too, always a way out if things dont work out. I used to pay BT alot more than 20 for a 3meg connection thinking it would be better service but it was that bad in the end I used a 3Mifi.

If you get an engineer visit then I dont think 50 is too bad...the reality is if we want better products then we have to pay that bit more, sky or BT are here to make money at the end of the day

ALSO you will get use of the cloud, way better than hit n miss BT openzone...

yea true ipster there's nothing we can do to say hey reduce this price now its there package they can charge what they want for it. but when you think about it its not that bad you know I mean 50 pound is a one off fee its not like its all the time. the only thing you really need to be sure about is if you can afford it with your TV service etc a month because you would be jumping from 7.50 unlimited to 20 pound a month

for someone already getting 17mb on adsl i can understand asking yourself if its worth going from 7.50 to 20 a month but for someone like me on a 4mb conn i will be ordering it the second my green cab pops up
I think 20/month is a fair price for a truly unlimited fiber service, the bt infinity package for unlimited usage is 25/month and virgins 30mb service is a tad under 30/month, although admitidely the upload is better but hopefully sky will work on that after launch

Re: Sky will be looking to run trials of fibre-optic broadband

Deadman, its each to their own. Many people will have their own reasons for wanting Fibre. For me, its just to get away from my poor 6meg connection. In a like for like basis its not really a bad deal if you compare it to BT's upto 40meg offering. The price increase is something people will just have to work out if they can afford.

As for 7.50 to 20 a month, you need to ask would the speed increase be worth the additional cost and would you notice a difference based on what you do on the net.. after all to some my current 6 meg connection would be fine for me I have multiple people connected so more is better. Its "unlimited" data and if its not capped then even better... but we also dont know what sky have around the corner either.. IPTV for example.. or even an increase to 80/20 and free use of the cloud -handy if you are on o2 and have an iphone now they have removed the free cloud hotspots...

Sky and Fibre is one more choice people now have that they didnt have before and thats never a bad thing..Of course it would be nice if it was cheaper or free connection but these things happen! Im ready to sign up.. I have wasted too much time in the past with BT who treat customers with no respect. I think we will be all surprised how well sky do on this...

Im ready for sky fibre... just wish my fibre cabinet at the end of my street was ready for me (they started installing it today)

hey don't get me wrong 20 a month for fibre is a steal its cheaper than other isps there all charging over 20 quid a month. so yea its OK when you think about it for people on slower connections it may be worth the jump. although I am happy with my speed I don't mind jumping again hehe.
