Stab in the dark, I know but that's my take on the matter.
      Yeah probably is!

Knowing Sky they will cope quite well. It's not as if they have scrimped and saved on this new network. It cost tens of millions of pounds, and is state of the art.

Assuming you did actually speak to someone earlier who gave you the wrong information, and assuming you have since spoken to someone else who gave you different information ... the point is that (a) sometimes calls are recorded for training purposes, therefore they will learn from it, and (b) the person you spoke to the second time will be made aware that not everyone has the same information.

I am a little bemused as to why you would want to join Sky purely for the fibre (indicated by the fact that you aren't intending to sign with them until fibre is available in your area, and your previous comments) - to be honest if I wasn't already a fairly content Sky customer, didn't have nor particularly want their TV or phone packages, I'd simply sign with an IP that provided fibre by itself.

Virgin Media customers could get tonnes more channels if they joined Sky.

Why on earth would Sky want to use VM for their network when they can build their own, and make more money.

Re: Sky will be looking to run trials of fibre-optic broadband

The reason I did not join Sky because I cannot afford Sky TV and I cannot have Sky Talk (because I have special telephone called BT Text Direct and it free with BT but not free with Sky) and for broadband, I cannot use my own router and cannot tweak snr if with Sky Broadband.

Now wouldn't it be nice if we could get the best of both? I'd love a Tivo box ... we actually have a Virgin box just outside our back garden - its been there for something like 10 years, but they still haven't connected our street up.

I've heard their customer service is "interesting" too ...

Is it coming down in price in April? Or will new customers be able to sign up for Sky fibre without taking any other packages?
