The most amazing picture quality I've seen was a high quality cinema showing of 'Wonderful Life'. Analogue info can be way beyond digital if the integrity of recording is there. Compare musical master tapes to digital audio or large format plate cameras to digital cameras....

Have a look at Anytime. At the moment is has Roman Holiday, made in 1953 in B & W, showing on the Sky Drama HD.

I think although maybe wrong, it is quite easy to make HD variants of films taken from the master roll of film. Sky did it for The Italian Job the other year.

Also they could be encoded / HD'ed via electronics as well, whilst broadcasting, iirc

Recorded postage with insurance, packing and administration from their end, then they have to pay someone on the end of the phone to deal with your call when you do the switchover and pair your card, they also have to allow for some sort of returns policy just in case there are problems not much really when you consider what you actually get.

An STB worth 200+, some people are never happy!!!

Re: Sky To Allow Self Install on Sky+HD?

I have just asked for this offer over the phone today and they are sending me a box which will be with me in 5 days on a self-install basis for 30 delivery... I am presuming that it will be one of the new 1TB Amstrad ones as well as she said the box should cost 249.

Can't wait as I have been putting off getting Sky HD for the last two years as the box was too expensive, the install for 60 was a rip-off and I couldn't afford the 10 / month extra. However, I have now switch my phone rental and unlimited call package from BT as the same time which is saving me 5 on the cost from BT and then 5 / month, every month off my broadband max package. Which saves me the 10 I am spending on the HD pack - so I am happy for now

Wonder what happens when they switch my line rental over though- I am presuming I will end up being d/c from BT equipment at the exchange and end up on the Sky LLU stuff. Wonder if that will make my BB worse better or the same
