Mine is the same, I think it is just another example of Sky's poor use of English. It is probably meant to mean 'up to'.

Average person consumes 34GB of data daily
Most data goes to gaming and TV.

Mmmm..!! Perhaps I need a bigger allowance.

US data consumption showed that the average consumer looks at 3.4 zettabytes (3,400 trillion gigabytes) of digital information each year.

Well, I'm pretty average and I consume.
Maybe I'd better talk to Sky now...

Re: Sky Broadband Usage On MySky?

According to the usage tool I've used 100+Gb so far this month .

My usage has been around 30-40Gb a month for at least the last year but I do stream downloaded programmes through the router to the TV.

Do you think the router logs this throughput of data as bandwidth usage and that's why my usage is so high?

I doubt very much if the tool is recording LAN usage. It takes its measurements at the exchange end, not at your router. If you think your reading is wrong, query it, don't wait till the end of the month or you will be upgraded if you go over in the next 5 months. You should really run another meter alongside the Sky one to give you a cross check.

Re: Sky Broadband Usage On MySky?

I wasn't aware this tool had gone live either, it was a post on another forum flagged it up. Well I checked and this is what it says:

Current package - Sky Broadband Everyday

      Usage for the period: 09/12/09 - 09/01/10
These dates usually match your billing period.
      You're currently within your allowance

You can carry on using your current Sky Broadband package, but for truly unlimited usage, plus faster download speeds*, why not upgrade to Sky Broadband Unlimited?

*Depending on your location and line quality.
      10GB
      0GB
Last updated: Next allowance starts in: Allowance this period: GB and % used:
      29 Oct. 02:54 21days 10GB 0.00GB = 0%

Eh? This can't be right surely? Zero usage in over a week?! Is the tool working correctly? Or have I misunderstood it?

Well, anyway, I'm not complaining, zero usage per month is fine by me!

The tool does not seem to be working properly, some are reporting a far higher usage than their actual and some, like you, are reporting no usage. I would not count on it staying like that, you may find that it suddenly jumps up and bites you. If I were you I would take a 'snip' of the whole usage tool area so you can produce it to Sky if it is required.

I stumbled upon a free upgrade offer for Sky's Max Broadband Package. If I have read correctly it's a free 6 month offer for new and existing customers and for those familiar with Quidco,it's worth 20 in cashback. Here's the link Sky Broadband - Fast Wireless Broadband - Find Out More. If this is true it will be very attractive for anyone anticipating an automatic upgrade due to over usage I'm sure.

      Looks OK.

I will consider it as i will be going over the measly 10GB allowance again any day now.

The only downside i can see is being on a 12 month contract again.

That looks as if you have to take the calls package too.

I'm now sitting on 9.58 GB so almost certainly tomorrow the proverbial pooh will hit the fan!

I didn't sign up for 10GB limit at 10, or unlimited at 15. I signed for an imaginary 40GB at 5 per month.

Sky devised the usage tool to find an excuse to upgrade people automatically. No upgrade for me, as it wouldn't be an upgrade. I can't get any more speed on this line and I don't go over the bandwidth limit I signed up for. So O2 here I come!

I just hope others do the same. Otherwise Sky will think moving goal posts is acceptable.
