Sky Broadband Changes - 22nd June
Update:
Sky have sent us the following information.
Changes to Sky Broadband from June 22nd 2009
Unconfirmed.
Rumour has it that there are to be some changes to Sky's current broadband offerings.
Currently,
Sky Base - 2gb Monthly usage
Sky Mid - 40gb Monthly usage
Sky Max - Unlimited Monthly usage
As from 22nd June, allegedly these will then be known as:
Sky Broadband Unlimited - 20Mbps Down/1.3Mbps up
Sky Broadband Everyday - 10Mbps Down/600Kbps up
No idea on Base, and apparently Everyday is a 10GB cap...
Although it is certainly not clear that the old packages will be removed, or if the newer ones would be for new customers as from 22nd June.
Updated 20:31:
The information you have got about the new Sky packages is correct. They are changing the Mid, Max and Connect packages.
Connect package is basically going ADSL2+, and I believe that it will soon offer upto 20Mb, like the Max package. Not sure about usage limits though. (This has since been revoked later on in this thread)
Also, there may or may not be an additional package added, specifically for gamers.
I don't know if the changes are going to affect all existing Sky customers, but we are aware that some older customers are getting their lines regraded to the new upload speeds atm

Re: Sky Broadband Changes - 22nd June
Is this from someone who doesn't want to go on the record at Sky or somewhere else?
Has the "Sky BB Team" who post here been asked to comment?
If we've signed up for the mid product that suddenly has the d/l limit capped by 75% do we have a get out, an up from 8 to 10 meg is hardly significant.

Re: Sky Broadband Changes - 22nd June
We have a policy on here of waiting until we get at least 2 PMs or emails about the same or nearly the same information, before we publish information.
This way we know that there is some credibility to the story / news. As for sources, lets just say they are or have been letting us know information for nearly 3 years or so.
I have never spoken to or exchanged information to the best of my knowledge, with bubblegun. This is someone other than "bubblegun"....?

Re: Sky Broadband Changes - 22nd June
Also, I missed this bit of information, I am not sure if this has already been stated on here so far:
Just a heads up, the Connect product is changing this month from using BT Centrals to IP Stream Connect.

Re: Sky Broadband Changes - 22nd June
I would assume the way that Sky get their backhaul from BT.
I am totally guessing, but I bet it cuts out a lot of the control / shaping from BT's network and gives total control to Sky?

Re: Sky Broadband Changes - 22nd June
Cannot believe this is true , cannot see how they can just cut your useage by 75% without pre warning anybody. They would lose a lot of customers also they are also still advertising 40g monthly useage on there web site
