Re: Sky Broadband Changes - 22nd June

Now had DLM for a week - the router hasn't been re-booted for a day, so I'm wondering if they have arrived at a final decision - not sure how long the DLM process takes, whether it is a fixed term or more dependant on line conditons etc.?

My SKY indicated line not under training - but I think it has always does this.

I think I am also going throught this DLM proccess now as well as since last Friday I have had a number of disconnections although strangely all but one have been when I have not been online and even the one that was I never noticed until it had just about reconnected. I have no email from Sky about the process and My Sky still says my line is not under training but since it started my down and upload speeds have both gone up. Previously my download was 5mb (and it was capped at that) but now it is just over 8mb and has been since Saturday. My upload was 416 or something like that and it is now 606kbs

Re: Sky Broadband Changes - 22nd June

The other interesting thing is using the helpful Pinger 2 utility it's a doddle to keep an eye on statistics, and the download noise margin varies from over 9 to sometimes as low as 6.6db. Not sure if they can adjust a noise margin, but it is a lot more variable than before when it was pretty much stable at 15.

      Cheers

It was a nice utility that came into the beta testing area some months ago, not sure if it has been made available more generally.

Bubblegun has posted some interesting info over on the Sky Broadband forum at DS:

Digital Spy Forums - View Single Post - What's sky like with their caps?

(I seem to recall that Bubblegun correctly broke the info about the changes to Sky Broadband a few months ago before the official announcements).

Interesting. All they have to do now is get the Broadband Details page working for everyone so they can make use of it.

      I can see it now:

"My usage monitor isn't working what can I do"

Seriously this is something a lot of us have been asking for. The auto upgrade part is interesting.
