I will pay even closer attention to my speeds over the next few weeks.

Re: Sky Broadband Changes - 22nd June

I got my email two weeks ago and I've yet to see any change.

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
      Connection Speed 10238 kbps -- 765 kbps
      Line Attenuation 36.0 db -- 17.9 db
      Noise Margin 8.0 db -- 9.0 db

This has been the same since March, therefore the same as always. There isn't any change on MYSKY either. Patience is a virtue I suppose. I'd have thought though if they sent the email they'd have started by now. Still I don't live in a big town.

Perhaps it takes longer than I thought?

I'll give them till October and then I may have to chase them.

Re: Sky Broadband Changes - 22nd June

Got email on 27th august telling broadband line inprovements could be coming my way . I have checked a few times and it it says line testing currently not in progress. Yet apon checking my up and download speeds this morning . I am now getting 8800 download speed as before I was getting 6400 and upload is now 470 and before it was 330 .So I suppose they must have done something. I do not leave my router on over night so dont Know if that would affect line testing or maybe they set it manually

I could effect it badly! Your router should be left powered up during the Testing period.

Re: Sky Broadband Changes - 22nd June

I just hope they won't ruin my connection....I get a stable 13mb down and have done for a long time but when I look at the service details page on My Sky they estimate that I can get a maximum of a massive 5mb!

Will have to wait and see I guess.

Re: Sky Broadband Changes - 22nd June

Sent in a KANA form to complain that I have lost almost a meg in my connection with DLM. I received an automated email with some questions to answer, answered then and add to response the situtaion I had with the connection.

After a couple of days wait I got and email from Sky CST, they advised my line check was complete and they could reset it, My Sky still says training in progress.

They have reverted my line to G.DMT and set a cap of 3040 on the line, line is now sync'd at 2944kbps and upstream has increaed to 608kbps.

I think they choose 3040 becuase I mentioned in my email my router normally syncs at around that speed, My SNR with this speed is 7.1db at night.

I am wondering if I should ask them to increase the cap limit to around 3500 to allow my line to connect faster if it can rather than taking a rough figure I plucked from my head,

At least i shows they are willing to revert lines back to old settings if DLM & ADSl2+ muck up your speeds, My attentuation is around 61db so I have a long line.

You could try, but if your Noise margin is dropping to around 7 now, it may be unstable if it is raised. You will only find out by trying.

Re: Sky Broadband Changes - 22nd June

you need to leave the router on over night for the dlm ( dynamic line manager ) to profile the line at a better speed leave router connected and switched on for at least 72 hours and dlm changes the speed during the midnight hours
