The higher the noise margin the better, it means you have more room for your speed to increase. When you NM drops to 6.9bd or there abouts, it means you have hit your lines limit and no more speed is available.

Omg..... my sky has decided to update to "Line connection testing completed on 11/08/2009" overnight... wtf is that about.. :/ Hmm weird, I don't understand that because the speed has been changing up until a few days ago.

Re: Sky Broadband Changes - 22nd June

My Sky updated a few daya ago to advise Line Testing is in progress from the 23/08/2009. I had a good healthy 3MB line with 384kbps upload before this started. No as of now the line had not dropped I am sync'd at 2MB now with an upload of 542kbps.

I though your line was supposes to get pushed up every day until it becomes unstable.

Not happy about the loss of a meg in download speeds.

I am using the Sagem Sky Router in V1.9, how do I tell if I am on ADLS2+ then as the Log file doesn't seem to hold much data and even when I save a copy of the log it's not formatted so not very readable.

My Sky says to leave the router on during the training, I wonder If I were to reboot would the speed get slower of would it sync back at 3Meg??

It would probably get lower. If DLM training has started on your line then you are on ADSL2+. Don't reboot or it may be interpreted as an error. Post your stats, for the record.

You should be able to read your logs in Notepad with Word wrap enabled., if you can't, try Wordpad as it is likely to maintain the formatting better.

25% and 50% increase in your speeds and you are not happy?

Do as you did before to have your delay reduced back to what it was before. Phone now and you will be told whether they can do it now or if you have to wait till training is complete. Your line may not need much training as you are now getting the maximum speeds with good margins.

Re: Sky Broadband Changes - 22nd June

Got home yesterday and my speed had dropped to 1607kbps downstream and 510kbps upstream.

Just ogged onto computer today and my line has changed again, current readings are:

Port Status TxPkts RxPkts Collisions Tx B/s Rx B/s Up Time
      WAN PPPoA 16691 20527 0 0 0 3:33:30
      LAN 24316 19666 0 0 0 3:34:47
      WLAN 0 0 0 0 0 0:00:00
      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 2045 kbps 542 kbps
Line Attenuation 62.0 db 37.0 db
Noise Margin 7.8 db 8.0 db

Before all this started I synced at 3040kbps downstream with similar nose margin and 384kbps upstream.

I won;t be happy being left with a 2 Meg connection when I had closer to 3 Meg before this happened.

Another long line crippled by ADSL2+
