So, has anyone any idea what could be wrong?

I am still currently running from the test socket and will do so until Sky contact me to say whether they are going to run DLM again or manually configure me.

I sent them a kana form telling them about my woes and informing them that my router was disconnected several times over the weekend whilst DLM was under way.

I cannot contact them by phone as I am very hard of hearing.

Apart from a download speed which is slower than you think it should be and is only around 2 meg below max it can be, what is the problem?

Exactly that. The download speed should be at the max, giving my proximity to the exchange and the fact all my cabling, master box etc have been renewed.

Why should it be? there is no guarantee when it comes to sync speed. If others get better speeds than you, and they can never be that much better, it means nothing. You could try phoning Sky and say that your speeds should be better but I dont think you will get very far, and the chances of Sky getting Openreach out to look at your line are zero.

Not if it's a noisy line at certain times of day, you posted 7.4 dB noise margin so it could be below 6.9 that you need at times, I'd have thought.

I've joined and am posting because my DLM has just started and I'm interested in comparing mine with others. Previously it was:

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 14335 kbps 796 kbps
Line Attenuation 20.0 db 11.9 db
Noise Margin 13.4 db 17.0 db
      at 1KM from the exchange.

Today after they rebooted me this morning, it's:

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 15323 kbps 998 kbps
Line Attenuation 20.0 db 11.8 db
Noise Margin 11.8 db 7.5 db to 8.0.

So I'm hoping for the full 20kbps although as I only had 14335 before (capped lower than the previous 15K I think because of some connection probs a long time ago), anything over 18000 kbps will be fine.

What surprises me is the huge drop in upstream noise margin for what's only a 25% increase in upload sync speed but that may change in coming days.

Re: Sky Broadband Changes - 22nd June

I contacted sky and asked them if they could either re-run DLM or manually configure my line due to the fact my router was not always connected during the DLM process.

I had an email this morning confirming that they had manually configured it based on the fact my line length is just over 300 mtrs according to sky.

I have run several speed tests using several different web test facilities, and I find that they have configured me to download at just below 2mb instead of 20mb!

I thought my browsing speed was slow and this confirms why.

You would be better starting your own thread, with your stats to see if anything obvious is wrong. The only way they could fix your download at 2 Mb would be to put a very heavy cap on your line. If you are still syncing high, something else is wrong.

Re: Sky Broadband Changes - 22nd June

      These are my stats>

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 1983 kbps 1044 kbps
Line Attenuation 11.5 db 4.9 db
Noise Margin 31.1 db 8.5 db

I note that my downstream noise margin which has always been for over 18 months at around 11.5 (ish) has now gone up to 31.1 after they manually configured my connection.

Before they manually configured me, I was synching at 17. something after DLM.
Now I am synching at 1.983 after manual configuration.

They have obviously done something wrong.

I can't phone them as I am very hard of hearing so must wait till they reply to my email. I assume it will take another 4 days.

That is unbelievable!!!! Just how dumb can some Sky agents be.

You would be better getting someone to sit by the phone and speak to them. Doing things by email can be a long drawn our process. I can't believe what has happened to you, we all know that Sky support is not the best but this takes the biscuit, they really need a kick up the backside

Re: Sky Broadband Changes - 22nd June

It looks like they've made a typo and missed off a zero when they were setting your downstream!

On the issue of how to contact them, I've found email much better than telephone - it can take a couple of days but you probably spend less time on it then spending forever on hold and going through menu options (and thus a nice saving on your phone bill!)
