They were supposed to inform you when they were starting DLM. I think everyone got the "Enjoy faster broadband at no extra cost" letter, although it is costing Mid users 75% of their previous allowance.

What exchange are you on? If others on it have also started DLM, this would confirm it is being done on an exchange basis and not by pulling names out of a hat.

Re: Sky Broadband Changes - 22nd June

I rang and had a ticket opened with the CST this afternoon, asking if they could manually configure my line now August 1st has lapsed, and now that I'm on the 'SKY' phone network. The 2nd DLM has not started on my line yet, and when I asked about that and whether it would undo what he was doing, the guy said not to worry, and call back to have it switched off if I noticed the speed had dropped. He reset the line a few times (1st attempt set my sync speed at 19.1!) but after a few attempts it was set at the following.

      Previous router stats -

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 16380 kbps 765 kbps
Line Attenuation 23 db 12 db
Noise Margin 11 db 12 db

      Now have -

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 18744 kbps 998 kbps
Line Attenuation 23 db 12 db
Noise Margin 7 db 8 db

I think what I'm trying to say is, can existing BB users get the new speeds without waiting for the DLM assuming your line can handle it?

Yes any your stats prove it, as long as they manually do it or start DLM you should get the new profiles.

I agree mate. You have to make a nuisance of yourself to get action on this Broadband speed upgrade though.

Also, advice to all those who think their line can support higher speeds and are having/have had/or are likely in the future to experience the nightmare of trying to get some sense and assistance from the inept 1st level Tech support, who I might add, insisted to me earlier that my line could only support 8-16 meg......! -

Rebooted my router, and the upload stats have changed.

looks like all those who called without waiting for DLM to run (which is between now and September) will likely see their speeds fall again...kinda serves you all right for not waiting!!!
