The upload speed should be increased to 1.3mb for max customers.

I wonder if this will literally happen for everyone at once on the morning of the
22'nd, or will it happen gradually to each exchange starting from the 22'nd?

Surely we should have all had letters, in advance, in accordance with the T&C's??

I totally agree with you Mike, its a material change to the T and C's - I don't think its for existing customers yet.

The speed increase is nothing to moan about or to cancel, but if you lose 30gb allowance, that is.

Re: Sky Broadband Changes - 22nd June

Maybe they'll bring in the speed increases starting 22nd, and then issue letters telling peeps that they are being changed (done) - Makes me glad I am on MAX, even though I only get 8mb.

Hopefully they won't cap the MAX (ever) as thay are really promoting their claim to be the only unlimited provider in the country - Even Virgin can't match that, with all their "traffic shaping"

Re: Sky Broadband Changes - 22nd June

In October last year, Sky convinced me via a marketing campaign that included promotional material sent direct to me that they could offer me a better value broadband service than the one I currently had. Indeed what was on offer claimed to be better value than many other services available. Based on what I was offered at the time I left my previous supplier and joined Sky Mid. In the eight months since the change, the cost has doubled and now it appears that my download allowance will be reduced by 75%. This means that the service on offer is now inferior to the one they persuaded me to leave and unsuitable for my broadband needs. I would never have transferred to a service with a 10Gig cap as this is not suitable for my broadband usage. Furthermore Sky offered me the chance to freeze the cost of the product by transferring my phone service to them which I did.

If these changes do indeed go ahead then I will consider Sky to have fraudulently gained both my broadband and telephone business by offering me terms that they no longer wish to abide by. I will of course be leaving Sky and will persue them for a full refund of all costs associated with my switch to and from theirbroadband and telephone services

Re: Sky Broadband Changes - 22nd June

I doubt that there is anything fraudulent here. Check the T&Cs and you will find that all is above board. If they change your service then you have 30 days to exit the contract without any penalty.

As for claiming the costs for originally switching, then good luck. Nothing is guaranteed for life or even the short term.

I appreciate you're unhappy and rightly so, but to claim Sky have committed fraud and that you are eligible for a refund of the costs that you incurred when you originally switched are somewhat over the top.

I would say a court of law would state caveat emptor (buyer beware). As the buyer, you have a responsibilty to a) check the T&Cs and b) ask any relevant questions to ensure that the products suits your needs both long term as well as short term. You saw a good deal and threw caution to the wind without checking that it was a guaranteed long term offer.

I know that isn't what you want to hear, but it is the reality. If enough people vote with their feet, then Sky will soon realise the damage they have caused..... but the damage is not fraud.

Re: Sky Broadband Changes - 22nd June

I read somewhere on here that to get the full 20MB you'd need 21CN. Checking Samknows i get

      21CN WBC status: Not available
      21CN PSTN switchover target: Q2 2011

Does this mean i'll only get the 16MB that i get now from ADSL2+?
