Re: Sky Broadband Changes - 22nd June

OK hate to have a first post like this but this is really getting bad now I have been cut off 4 times on the phone now and no one knows what is going on at sky and they wont give me any details call customer relations just say I have to wait for them to call me.

All I want to know is if I can cancel all of my sky services when I am in contract as a vital part of the contract has changed?

      To think I recommended sky.

The changes to the broadband, mean, that you could cancel the broadband side of things without penalty, as long as this is done by 1st August. The changes would not affect your normal TV side of things though, and I would assume that you would not be able to cancel the TV contract, unless of course, you only signed up to Sky TV for the broadband side of things.

exactly, we moved from BT with BT Vision to sky with sky BB as a package I would not have gone with sky if it were not for the BB price and package. Feeling let down by the poor support and lack of contact.

I take it sky reps don't want their stats hurt and that's why I get cut off every 20 mins or so.

If you took it all out at the same time I would think that you could cancel the lot, as you cant get the broadband without tv anyway.

I guess I will just have to see how it pans out. I hope so as the internet means more to me than TV.

You could only cancel the bb within the contract period as they have not altered the terms of the tv contract.

Edit - As NR has already pointed out earlier - must learn to read everything before posting

Re: Sky Broadband Changes - 22nd June

I've just bitten the bullet & upgraded to Unlimited Mainly for peace of mind as I am certainly the heaviest broadband user in our home and I'm sure we must be close to the 40GB limit already. After learning of this new (quite extreme) download restriction though a decision had to be made and I'm sure 10GB per month would have been putting us in the red zone! Anyway, braking any usage allowance limits should not be a worry anymore and perhaps now I'll even download some of those big game demos I've always wanted whilst watching endless You Tube vids etc It did really get my back up initially though that Sky would put such a strangling cap on their customers monthly allowance, I mean I would have thought that 10GB wouldn't be enough for anyone really?

One question for anyone who knows please guys. As I'm a Sky TV, Sky Broadband and Sky Talk customer. Should I be expecting a charge for upgrading from Mid to Unlimited?

If you mean other than the extra 5 / month then I dont think so - that would be really rubbing salt into the wound.

Yea that's what I thought, but forgot to ask

One good thing though... I needed to call Sky after the upgrade as I noticed my download speeds had actually halved Then after speaking to level 2 tech (or customer relations etc) the very helpful guy adjusted something his end (quite a few times,) and now I've gone from my usual 8Mbps to 11.5Mbps and uploads from 325Kbps to 765Kbps
