Sky Broadband Changes - 22nd June

This is a discussion on Sky Broadband Changes - 22nd June within the Sky news and announcements forums, part of the SkyUser Announcements category; I hope so, It's just the comment about Connect users possibly being moved to ADSL2+ and DLM apparently leaving lines ...

I was concerned that Sky may be moving to ADSL2+ as "standard".
Great for people with short and/or noise free lines, perhaps not so good for others...
      Hopefully just my paranoia...

100% price rise on Mid, now followed by a 75% reduction in the download cap.

Nice one Sky, clearly you don't want me as a customer anymore.

I think there will be a large number with this view.

You should realize by now that Sky's front line support are the last to be told anything.

Remember also, this is totally unconfirmed. It may or not be true.

Our contact afaik is on holidays this week, and so any further news would not be available, until next week at the earliest.

Yeah but you've had dealings with these people & you must think there is some substance to this, otherwise I assume you wouldn't have warned people. I'm sure you get a lot of BS you decide not to post?

So if you liked a bet where would your money be?

I would probably gamble, on it being true.

But maybe not 100% correct in detail.

      edit:

I would also add - that it would probably only apply to new customers, unless there is a 30 day option for all the Mid customers to leave or upgrade without penalty, if the cap is to be reduced.

As for the greater speeds, then it would only affect those that have very good lines. (apart from the upgrade to the upload speed of course) Although I am not sure if the download speed would take a hit if the upload was increased.

I'm sure you get a lot of BS you decide not to post?
Not at all - Nearly everything we receive is beneficial or more or less true (of has in the past) anyway. The problem is, holding onto the information, as you never know what has been fed to see if there is anyone giving information away etc

The bit Just a heads up, the Connect product is changing this month from using BT Centrals to IP Stream Connect. for example - we have had for a couple of weeks, but ignored until someone else, also gave us the information. Therefore you could probably assume that it is true, unless person a told person b and then they both decided to tell us.

That might be correct because if this was applicable to everyone else then Sky would have to get those letters out pretty sharpish and from memory when the price went up I had a few of them 2 or 3 months before this was coming into affect. If this is to start on 22 June then that doesn't leave much time.

Re: Sky Broadband Changes - 22nd June

The changes you posted about Sky Broadband Connect are INCORRECT. It is staying an up to 8 Mbit product and there are currently no plans to change this. A retraction of something stated previously was posted at work yesterday confirming this.

The reason the story broke was because although the service re-grade takes effect 22nd June, all broadband sales teams need to advise customers as of Monday 8th June since there lines can take up to 14 days to become active.
