For any Mid customer leaving Sky please be aware that their latest jolly wheeze to delay your departure is to give you an INVALID MAC code!

It happened to me yesterday and the "Agent" freely admitted that it had happened dozens of time in the last few days!

Why can't they get even the simplest of things right?

The MAC code should consist of 4 letters, 7 digits (sometimes up to 9), a forward slash, 2 letters, 2 digits, and 1 final letter. ie BBIP87654321/AB12C

Use this live MAC Code checker to check any code they give you.

Especially as they're generated by a BT system called ECO.

Sky need to train their staff better to stop this happening.

Ofcom have been monitering my transfer from Sky to O2 and the fact I was presented with a MAC with O's and 0's transposed has made them more interested.
The keep phoning to ask how things are going.

Guess I'm lucky my migration is one of the ones the chose to look at.

I didn't seem to get this pamphlet with my magazine (just rechecked my wastepaper bin to make sure I hadn't chucked it out without noticing!). Another job well done by Sky

Not sure if this has been mentioned anywhere else but you now opt out online using the link mentioned on the webpage, which lists the new networks T&C's (Sky Broadband- Making your Sky Broadband and Talk services even better). Look for "let us know".

May save talking to CS until they are up to speed on what the new network is

Thanks for the link. Opted out - told them I want flexibility when my 12 months contract is up. I also think using indirect call providers will be simpler under the existing network.

Received my leaflet this morning with Mag. States
Sky broadband now even better All for the same low price.
I would like to know what is better? As I dont think many will see any increase in speed and they have reduced the usage by 75% so whats better, well yes its better for sky.

For Mid customers the current deal at O2 is if it's available in your exchange!

O2 is only 7.34 per month if you have an O2 mobile (free sim cards are available) and top it up by 10 per quarter (Every 10 topup = 11 of calls). You can also get 70 cashback through Quidco at the moment.

That's only 58.08 net (or 4.84 per month!) for 12 months unlimited up to 8Mb broadband and that also includes 44.00 worth of mobile calls!

Therefore the O2 Standard Home Broadband package (up to 8MB with unlimited downloads) actually only costs an UNBELIEVABLE 14.08 net for the whole of the first year or 1.17 per month!

Don't forget to take into account that any broadband discount you currently get from Sky also stops on 1st January 2010 and VAT goes back up!
