That's just like saying every customer has access to the information regarding these changes but if we choose not to visit their website and ignore it it's our fault for not knowing!

If Sky don't actually formally inform anyone that these changes are taking place and what they entail how do Sky expect their customers let alone thier own staff to know anything!

Once again Sky have excelled themselves by providing an appalling level of communications with their customers and staff regarding these changes!

Re: Sky Broadband Changes - 22nd June

the changes are being published in the July copy of the Sky Magazine - I know it's late but at least it's done...and the Sky site has had the info there since last week (although obviously if you're an existing customer then why would you look??)...

An letter/email should've gone out to all customers informing them of these changes, but looks like Sky don't think that's the right way to do things...

regarding the agents ignoring the internal emails - Sky can't govern what people take in, if someone thinks they know best the email will be ignored...hopefully these agents will be caught during call monitoring and flagged on not following process as it's been known about these changes for the best part of a month...

Same here, however I was logging on to send them a MAC request. I've got a line that will never get above 5meg and as I reguarly use 25gb a month Sky are giving me 3 options.

      1. Reduce my usage.
      2. Upgrade to max
      3. Leave.

Well Sky yes I will be paying more for my internet but not to you infact I'll be binning my third multiroom box and cutting down on 2 of the mixes we don't watch anymore so that will be 17 a month less in your pocket.

      I'm off to O2

Re: Sky Broadband Changes - 22nd June

As I pointed out earlier I would guess that 90% of those tatty junk mail magazines never even get the plastic wrapper taken off and go straight in the bin.

Sky choosing to use the magazine as a means of communicating major service changes which are contractually detrimental to a large section of their customers ought to set alarm bells ringing with ALL customers!

Quite clearly Sky have ulterior and underhand motives for choosing to inform (or more accurately) NOT TO INFORM customers of these changes by using this method of communication!

Re: Sky Broadband Changes - 22nd June

What is this Sky magazine? I've only been a member for nine months or so, but have never seen one.

Anyway, the information on the public web site is not terribly clear. As I posted previously, it says here: Sky.com - Sky Products>Broadband>Prices and Options>Sky Broadband Everyday that Sky Broadband Everyday gives 40GB per month, whereas another posted link on the Sky site says 10GB per month.

I'm not meaning to sound aggressive - sorry if it comes over that way - but is there any way to find out what the Everyday product actually provides?

      regards,
      /alan

Re: Sky Broadband Changes - 22nd June

      Alan.

Everyday comes with 10gb not 40gb - there is a typo on Sky's website.

Sky Broadband Mid becomes Sky Broadband Everyday

      • The download speed will increase from up to 8mb to up to 10mb.
      • The upload speed will increase from up to 400kb to up to 600kb
      • The usage cap reduces from 40gb to 10gb, in line with the actual usage of the vast majority of our customers
      • And new customers will enjoy 3 months free McAfee security

      Taken from here:

Changes to Sky Broadband from June 22nd 2009

Re: Sky Broadband Changes - 22nd June

That's what I thought... but since IAmNotTheEnemy was citing the Sky Website as being a reliable source of information I thought it was worth highlighting the discrepancy.

Doesn't really affect me, since I'm on Max. But I do think it's rather poor to reduce service levels by 75%...

Re: Sky Broadband Changes - 22nd June

I raised it this morning - the website - so not sure what'll get done about it...

what I was saying is that the site tells you of the new speeds - which people were saying wasn't available to Sky's agents...baring in mind sales are really the main ones who should know, tech just deal with getting it working...

Once DLM rolls out eveyone's speed'll increase (or uploads anyway)...

Re: Sky Broadband Changes - 22nd June

Why are people so quick to leave on having usage cut? I've easily downloaded 100GB+ in one month when I was on the mid package...do Sky even monitor bandwidth usage?
