Re: Sky Broadband Changes - 22nd June

      Aren't rumours brilliant!

I seriously doubt that the effective start date for any existing Mid customer could be the 22nd June but time will tell!

This is copied from the last contract related communication I received from this shower of robbing gets!

Change to Sky Broadband contract.pdf received Sat 01/09/2007

      Key changes

      • You will receive, by post or by email, at least one calendar month’s notice, if we change your Contract Conditions in such a way which we reasonably consider you will be disadvantaged by. We will give you notice of any other changes via sky.com.

      • You may end this Contract by giving us seven days’ notice at any time (including during your Minimum Term) if we break any of the Conditions and we have not put it right within a reasonable period of time.

If by any chance it turns out to be correct then let the stampede to 02 & Be begin!

Thanks for the info. I was always under the impression ADSL2+ was some sort of super internet. Can't say I've noticed the difference between ADSL2+ and ADSL (was on ADSL with my last provider).

I live quite close to the exchange, so hopefully, I will see a significant shift in speed.

Also, I am unsure if Sky have to give us 1 months calendar notice on changes in contract, as it technically isn't a contractual change is it?

I get my Broadband MAX for free, as the Sky package I am on qualifies, they couldn't suddenly change that criteria could they, not without forcing people away surely?!

I get my Broadband MAX for free,
I didn't think there were any packages that included free Max broadband, I thought Base was the only free one..
Post your stats and someone will tell you what you should get.

Re: Sky Broadband Changes - 22nd June

As a mid customer my concern is what will they do if we exceed our download limit, I think it's doubtful, we have one pc used perhaps for 3-4 hours per day mainly surfing, e-mails IM etc, we don't really download music or films if we want a CD/DVD we buy it, we do also have a wii, which my son does use for online games Mario Kart etc, and for watching BBC I Player (If this were available on Sky TV as it is with Virgin it would be better) an Internet radio, (probably used one hour per day maximum) we can't get a good DAB signal, and my BlackBerry again only used at home rarely. The only uploads would be photos to facebook etc and then not often.

If this would take us over 10gb for the month, then we'll have to look elsewhere. O2 is no good, as we get a very poor mobile signal from them. Our mobiles are with Orange, and it may be that we look at their broadband.

I don't need extra speed, we are not exactly huge bandwidth users so I can't see any justification for Max. I'd probably stay with Sky, as I doubt we hit 10gb, much however would depend upon what happens if you do. If it is a warning letter, then fine, if there is a charge I would move. I cannot see how you can enforce a cap unless you have a tool that allows all users to monitor their usage. Plus net had one years ago.

Incidentally what does doubling the cost followed by quartering the capacity equal as a percentage increase in English money?

Let's be honest Sky haven't exactly got a reputation for being either the sharpest or quickest tool in the box and their customer service still bloody stinks after all this time.

A huge mistake. Sky neatly back slid on the price increase for most existing customers, will we see the same with the limit?

So this means Sky Max customers shall be upgraded to 20Mbps?

Will I actually have any increase?

Remember, none of this has been confirmed officially yet. It may or may not be true.
