You wont get more than you have now with that attenuation, you may see 16mb if you have a good line, but you should be getting 16mb now anyway.

I'm also very similar to that. around 900 meters with line attenuation of 28db and set at 14 i get 12.
If you are only getting 12-14Mb with an attenuation of 28, you have noise problems on your line and will get no more than you have. Anyone who has a cap on their speed or do not manage the full 16Mb, will see no difference.

Hmm I guess this is getting towards off topic but assuming Sky raise the upload speed would I be able to get that too? Or if I asked them to uncap me from 14mb with this noise would it be worth the risk to see if I can get their new speeds, whenever they arrive? Not sure I want that noise margin any lower lol.

There is no reason why you cannot ask to be uncapped, but why was it capped in the first place? There must have been a problem, or DLM has run and left it a bit low.
To be honest I doubt if you will see any improvement if and when the 16 Mb cap is lifted. You may as you are just on the margin to get 16+Mb, but it would not be much. I think the only ones who will really benefit are those with attenuations in the teens or lower, they may see the full 24Mb.

What about VDSL? or even go straight for VDSL2? Wouldn't this allow them to increase speeds dramatically, whilst waiting on fibre?

EDIT: Or is this part of fibre deployment but using VDSL2 for the last 'copper mile'?

      ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Do you have Sky Talk? It seems only those on Sky Talk get the letter. I think it is a sop to lessen the impact of ST increases.

Re: Sky Broadband Max - New Faster Speeds?

The guy from BT told me when he came to hook up my line, that they were doing something with the green boxes outside the homes.

He said it might be like bringing the exchange to the customer.

He was a bit dippy, but hey who knows, I know nothing about those boxes and what the do though.

I got the letter, as I am with skytalk, but they have not said anything else on it.

The lady from tech in sky knew nothing about it either.

Why would the tech at Sky know what is happening? If it's infrastructure changes then only those that need to know will know.
