Re: Sky Broadband Max - New Faster Speeds?

Mmm maybe i should give sky a call, as iv not had a letter like it showed in one of the earlier posts, i know they capped me at this sync below ages ago and stated was max i could get which was bull have had faster, but if people are getting better uploads now then maybe it is best i get onto them, lets hope i get someone decent on the phone.

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 4608 kbps 768 kbps
Line Attenuation 47.0 db 28.0 db
Noise Margin 13.1 db 14.0 db

Oh yeh as anyone else noticed that there nosie margin will stay rock solid up untill say 10/11pm, then start droping, i used to have it the other way round, sucky NM during the day, then really high at night lol.

Edit: We have had said letter, never spoted it, and no line testing on my line, so guess i'll have to call sky, bleh i'll end up with some jobsworth as normal untill i demand to speak to the proper techs, ok forget ringing it seems you have to manually upgrade on the website if u don't ring, though this kind of thing would be automatic.

Re: Sky Broadband Max - New Faster Speeds?

So are the people who do not get near the current maximum forever doomed to 2/4/6mb etc. whilst the rest lucky ones ride off into the sunset with ever increasing speeds ?

Surely this cannot be true but I would love some answers from those in the know or even someone who knows anything.

I appear stuck on 6mb/0.6mb with DLM finished 4 weeks ago. I've had faster, up in the 7/8mb range. My current details are:

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 6143 kbps 606 kbps
Line Attenuation 45.5 db 26.1 db
Noise Margin 7.6 db 16.0 db

I'm afraid so. At least until the existing copper lines are replaced with fibre, which could be very far in the future.

If you have done all you can to improve your internal wiring, preferably by fitting and using a filtered faceplate if you have extensions, then that is about all you will get. 7/8 mb might be possible at the expense of stability, but if DLM has set your line, the only way this would happen is if Sky took the cap off your line. They are unlikely to do this.

Also on the sky site it says

Your Sky Broadband & Speed Estimate

Sorry, this service is currently unavailable. We are sorry for any inconvenience this has caused.

      Also what does this mean

Broadband On-net monthly loyalty discount of #5 until 01/01/10 (Auto-tnf)

We went from BT phone to Post office phone just the other month but if I change to sky will it go faster?
      I am now getting this

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 16380 kbps 921 kbps
Line Attenuation 8 db 3 db
Noise Margin 7 db 13 db

Must have just got this today as it was still 412 the other day.

My ping has also got lower from 79 to 60 and speed is much bettter now on sites like youtube.
      My speed

Re: Sky Broadband Max - New Faster Speeds?

Yup, I've gone to 17779 kbps down and 1036 kbps up in the last couple of days. I have noticed that the ping seems remarkably quick and more response (especially when on me WoW stuff!)

The web page doesn't say anything about line testing in 'mysky' though; however I did receive the letter about a month and a half ago that said 'over the next few months...' so if you've had the letter and they've not done anything, don't despair, just give it time.

Re: Sky Broadband Max - New Faster Speeds?

I was wondering how long people are having to wait for this to happen ? Sky emailed me 25 days ago about this and so far not an electronic sausage !!

My sync speeds are the same, as is my speedtest results. And if I log on to my Sky account it says they are not currently testing my line. I'm beginning to give up hope !
