Hopefully the upload speed is improved - compared to Be it's certainly lacking. If my lines set to a certain speed do you think it will it automatically change (dlm maybe?) or will I have to contact them to set it to a higher speed? Just wondering if anybody knew from experience.

Can't wait for more information on these upgrades

We now understand that the new increases, are to be an upto 24meg option on Max. Which would still be using Sky's LLU network.

More information as we get it.

That's good news, and hopefully we can get our upload speed at least doubled too

      Yes and No

First off - It's not confirmed

If it is true, the higher download speed would only apply to about 10% of people, however the higher upload speed would hopefully benefit a lot of existing users.

I don't think anyone else currently below 16meg would be any better off on their download speeds. Unless of course there is something we don't know.

I have not received a letter yet, but I am looking forward to this as I live about 200 mtrs from the exchange!

Any rumours on the date they plan to begin rolling this out?

What are the improved upload speeds going to be?

Well, seeing as no one in CST even knows about this I can't see it being any time soon...

Or it will implemented by a small team without letting CST know for about 6 months (letters have already gone out without anybody knowing about it)

I have a feeling that the 5 price hike (without Sky Talk etc) has seen them now being directly compared to the O2 packages and
they are fairly lacking except that there is no FUP. (especially as O2 topped the January 'Which' ISP survey and Sky didn't even get into the top 10)

We shall see, if it is fibre to cabinet I'd expect other ISP's to also roll this out if it is just upping the limit to match the other LLU operators then Sky is playing catchup.

If this is just Sky opening up ADSL2+ to it's full capacity, I wouldn't get too excited unless I already had 16Mb with a very healthy noise margin. Less than 10% of users can get the full 16Mb and I would think only a small percentage of these will get 24Mb.

Would be interested to know how many users on here have a decent SNR, attn. Rather risky performing a mass mail out on how everyones speeds are about to go through the roof if only a small %age can benefit.

Have these letters been distributed arbitrarily? Could Sky forseeably target current users with decent stats who are likely to get >16meg and reduce the risk of a lot of disappointed customers?

      Interesting.

      cheers

      Paulo
