I purchased a new ADSL faceplate today from Amazon. Can anyone let me know if they have the same item, or what they think etc?

      Cheers.

The faceplate you have linked to is for an extension socket. If you want one for your master socket, you need one of these - NTE5 compatible ADSL filtered faceplate: Amazon.co.uk: Electronics & Photo you will also need a compatible line box, so buying the 'all three' recommendation would be your best bet.

Solwise are a very reputable manufacturer.

It's for my master socket, so I guess is incompatible. Can I just use the faceplate to replace my existing master socket faceplate? I don't want to take the wall mounted casing off, I just want to replace the existing faceplate.

You can use this: XTE-2005 Filtered Master Faceplate - ADSL Nation which will just replace your existing faceplate.

I did try to order from ADSL Nation, but they said that item is out of stock until end of June!

Re: Sky Broadband Max - New Faster Speeds?

Yesterday when I tested my router in the test socket, I received these results:

I'm on the Max (16MB) connection.
Does this mean I live close to the exchange?

Also when I put the faceplate back on and use the master socket I normally receive 12Mbps. So the WIFI connected computers/devices receive about 8-11Mbsp, with the test socket they receive more.

I also experience drop-outs every day. Normally once, but sometimes twice.
This is what it says in the logs:

      Sun, 2009-05-03 19:51:25 - Loss of synchronization :1
      Sun, 2009-05-03 19:51:31 - LCP down.
Would investing in the XTE-2005 faceplate solve these problems, if so is it easy to put on?

This is also the current speed:
      DownStream Connection Speed 9885 kbps
      UpStream Connection Speed 746 kbps
      Thanks,

      Liam M. McGoldrick

He has not got an NTE5a line box, so this face plate is no use.

Can I just use the faceplate to replace my existing master socket faceplate?
Not really, a master socket is specially constructed to be the first on he line. If you look inside your existing Master you will see several bits and pieces which are not in an extension socket. These are there for safety, without them your house wiring and equipment is vulnerable to power spikes.

Was on 16Mbit before. Now syncing at about 19800 down, and about 870 up.

It did go into DLM a couple of weeks ago again, with the 796 up indicator and re-syncs. After settling at about 16400 from March.
