      If you plug into your Test socket and take your stats from there that will show if your line is capable of any more. With a very good external line you could get 15-16000kbps.

      You will have read in your letter about DLM which will start on your line in a couple of days, so keep your router plugged in and powered up at all times. Don't switch it off at night or this will been seen as a fault and drop your speed.

      to test it i have a adsl v.1 faceplate with a dsl port and phone line port and when i take the face off i only have a phone port do i test it with a micro filter ??

      i have a adsl v.1 faceplate with a dsl port
      Unless the faceplate is faulty, you will not see much difference, if any

      Re: Sky Broadband Max - New Faster Speeds?

      What would i expect with these stats if anyone does'nt mind telling me.

      I'm 0.92 miles away from by exchange as the crow flies, 1.3 mile by road.

      my stats are :

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
      Connection Speed 16380 kbps 764 kbps
      Line Attenuation 30 db 13 db
      Noise Margin 8 db 18 db

      When doing the ADSL2 speed checker its says with my attenuation 14 - 16 Mb
      with my distance which is around 1.4km it says 16 - 24 Mb ?

      Not that im complaining about the speed i got just want to know if i would get anymore

      Thanks Glenn

      Re: Sky Broadband Max - New Faster Speeds?

      You might get a little, we are taking about Kbs of an increase not Mbs. The distance checker bases it's calculations on line length, this can be very different from road length. Your attenuation is what governs your speed and yours indicates that you are a good bit more than 1.4K, possibly nearer 2.4K.

      Re: Sky Broadband Max - New Faster Speeds?

      You wouldn't get much more, not really worth messing with it you have a nice noise margin to keep the speed you have stable, going faster may make things unstable but you never know unless you are will to give it a go.

      This just shows how the figures fluctuate wildly -

      NetGear DG934 [Sky Firmware] V2-Black

      ADSL LinkDownstreamUpstream
      Connection Speed13309 kbps797 kbps
      Line Attenuation23 db12 db
      Noise Margin14 db7 db

      Just did a speed test and got this -

      Next time it will probably be down to 11mbps.

      Re: Sky Broadband Max - New Faster Speeds?

      @Harry Finn,
      The work BT are doing has nothing to do with Sky, in theory all Sky have to do to increase the speed available is move a slider up a scale to a higher speed. The technology is already in all the exchanges they have unbundled.

      @robthemod,
      You should be aware that the speed you show for Speedtet.net is complete rubbish, it is impossible to download at a higher rate than your sync. In fact if you get 85-90% of your sync speed you are doing well. The 11mbs speed you see is nearer the correct one.
      That being said you are not syncing as high as you should be for your attenuation and noise margin. DLM has capped your line. You should phone Sky and ask them to manually configure your line as DLM has left it crippled. Be aware though that this will probably mean your upload speed will be reduced to the Max standard of 764kbps, so if upload speed is important to you, you would do well to leave things as they are.
