Have you applied the 'fixes' mentioned in this thread? In particular, change the servers to - Incoming - pop.googlemail.com - Outgoing - smtp.googlemail.com.

Can you access your mail via the web page? If so check your More Settings that they are configured as Post# 18 above.

Also check that your Username in your email settings has @sky.com added to the end. If you have done this please post the full error message you are receiving.

Change these settings if it isn't working:

      Incoming - pop.googlemail.com - Outgoing - smtp.googlemail.com.

Don't forget to include your full email address in both incoming and outgoing username bits.
If it still isn't working please post the error message back on here.

      Re: Sky Email Broken Again

Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of inactivity. Account: 'Susie', Server: 'pop.googlemail.com', Protocol: POP3, Port: 995, Secure(SSL): Yes, Error Number: 0x800CCC0F

      is this any help?

      Re: Sky Email Broken Again

      Hi all,
The following congiguration works for me when using MS outlook 2007 (both for sending and receive emails) as of 5th March 2009.
      incoming mail sever : pop.tools.sky.com
outgoing mail sever (SMTP) : smtp.tools.sky.com
User name: full user name with sky.com (eg joeblogs@sky.com)
      Password : your correct password
Require logon using Secure Password Authentication (SPA) --- not ticked

Under more setting --- outgoing sever tab
My outgoing sever (SMTP) requires authentication ---ticked
use same settings as my incoming server -- radio button selected

Under more setting --- Advanced tab

      Incoming Sever (POP3) 995
This server requires an encryted connection (SSL0 --- ticked
      Outgoing Sever (SMTP) 465
Use the following of the encryted connection :- SSL (from drop down menu)

For me the key difference that made it outgoing messages work was setting going sever Use the following of the encryted connection :- SSL (from drop down menu)

only problem i have with above is if i send a mail to my email address it does go out of my outbox however I donot received it back . If there are multiple recepients then everyone except me receives the mail...not a big issue for me

      Hope this helps.

      Re: Sky Email Broken Again

      Protocol: POP3, Port: 995, Secure(SSL): Yes, Error Number: 0x800CCC0F
There are several reasons for this error, among the most common, and most likely in your case are-

      • Your account settings are incorrect.
      • .The configuration of your AV software is incorrect.
      • The configuration of your personal firewall software is incorrect.

For the first, double check your settings. Make sure you are not using commas instead of full stops. Very often the best thing to do is delete the account and start afresh. It is very easy to make a small mistake, like using STMP instead of SMTP which is easy to to miss when you are checking the settings. jshah's method above is easy to follow, except that Outlook 2003 and OE do not have the dropdown box in the Advanced tab page, so don't let that throw you.

The second and third can happen if you have made changes to the account and your Security sees it as another account. Check that your emal client is allowed to pass through your AV and Firewall. If you are certain that your settings are correct, try starting in Safe Mode with Networking and see if you can send/receive. This mode does not allow your security to load, so if you can send/receive you may need to uninstall and reinstall your security software.

only problem i have with above is if i send a mail to my email address it does go out of my outbox however I donot received it back . If there are multiple recepients then everyone except me receives the mail...not a big issue for me
This is quite normal, if you check in your Web Mail, you will find your test messages and any others you have addressed to yourself are there.

Sky email is working, if it is not for you, then the reason is between the keyboard and your chair.
