Problem with Sky Email February 12th 2009

      Update: 22:21

If you want to access your email online, instead of going to mail.tools.sky.com, use this:
      http://mail.google.com/a/sky.com

      Update: 21:45

A member has posted this temporary work around if you use an email client - Have not tried it as I don't use Sky email.

The solution is just to use Google's domain instead of Sky's and it works fine.
So instead of pop.tools.sky.com use pop.googlemail.com
And instead of smtp.tools.sky.com use smtp.googlemail.com

Remember to change this back once the issue is resolved.

      Update: 21:33

Some people are reporting that they can log into Sky.com and then Email / Tools and that Webmail is working. Although it would appear that the issue is with sending via Outlook / Outlook Express and that your username and password is wrong or not working.

This is more than likely a fault with Google, as they provide the email service for Sky, so its a case of just waiting until it comes back online.

There is no point in changing your username or password in your email client, as it is very unlikely that the fault is at your end.

Judging by the fact we have over 2150 guests online at the moment, there is obviously a problem with Sky's email service.

I have been sent a PM with this info on it. So I presume it is being looked into or at least that Sky are aware.

Customers can get to Sky.com website but are reporting not being able to login to Sky Email and Tools

I have posted this elsewhere but it is worth repeating in here - I can get logged into Sky email via sky.com, it is nice and fast here. It is just POP3 that isn't working.

What a pity Sky don't put a notice on their Web Site when they know there is a problem to save their customers wondering where the fault lies.
