Yep, I can confirm that changing the server settings in Outlook Express works fine:
      pop.googlemail.com
      smtp.googlemail.com
I can now send & receive email again.

Also the link to https://mail.google.com/a/sky.com/mail/?ui=1 works fine for web-based mail
(the email login at sky.com does NOT work).

      Many thx for the info

Exclamation Re: Problem with Sky Email February 12th 2009

The sky email servers are down at present use the following on your mail client
woked fine for able to send and receive REMEMBER TO CHANGE THEM BACK WHEN PROB RESOLVED .

The solution is just to use Google's domain instead of Sky's and it works fine.
So instead of pop.tools.sky.com use pop.googlemail.com
And instead of smtp.tools.sky.com use smtp.googlemail.com

Why? What difference does it make to anybody? It's just these google settings work on my mobile phone - the sky certificate isn't valid on my phone, so I have to manually tell it to check for e-mails rather than allow it to do so automatically.

0800 13.2.09 Emails up and running again.

Sky should look at being able to post a notice on their web site to show current status of the service. It would save a lot of frustration on the part of their customers.
