      Happy Birthday Sky

20 years ago tomorrow (February 5th 1989), a new four-channel satellite television service for the UK was launched by Sky.

A year later Sky merged with British Satellite Broadcasting to become BSkyB. The rest is history . . . . .

I remember paying 199 for an Amstrad box and large dish from Currys, and the subs were about 12

Whether we like Sky or not, you have to hand it them for the innovations that they have developed, and then introduced.

Happy Birthday Sky! Here's to another 20 years.

      Re: Happy Birthday Sky

I remember the first Sky dish me and a mate put up in 1989. Very much hit and miss at the time, and we ended up using the "wet tea towel" method, in which you cover part of the dish and adjust it for minimium sparkles, then you cover a bit more and so on untill any adjustment increases the sparkles. It took ages

      Re: Happy Birthday Sky

I remember the first three years problem after problem and being told it will get better and sure
enough Sky TV look at it now. It reminds me of Sky BB and if Sky TV is anything to go by
Sky BB is in its learning process as Sky TV was then. Look at Technology now. Everyone
wants everything yesterday as soon as a new product is produced it is out of date. So I say
Thank you Sky for many years of Enjoyment and here`s to the future
