TV Is Changing - Get A Sky+HD Box for 49

Over the last couple of weeks, there has been an advert shown to us by Sky, with the slogan 'TV is changing, to find out how, check your Sky Magazine'

Speculation has been rife all over the internet, with rumours ranging from VOD (Video On Demand) to 3D TV being launched. As we reported early January, Sky have now confirmed that Sky+HD boxes are to be had, by new and existing* customers, for 49

      Details of the offer:

      • Sky+HD box 49 when you take the HD Pack and Sky TV and existing* customers sign up to another 12 month minimum term for Sky TV
      • Free standard set-up for new customers
      • 30 standard set-up for existing* customers, (free if taken with Multiroom.)
      • If you order online, you get the first month of HD Pack free (saving 9.75)

The HD pack costs 9.75 per month. Sky Multiroom costs 9.75 per month.

To see more information about this offer please visit Sky's new HD Offer pages.

*Existing customers: One 49 box per household and not available if you already have SkyHD/Sky+HD box. Sky+HD box price 199 for customers not eligible for 49 box price (Sky TV and HD Pack subscriptions required).

Honestly, sort of a let down tbh, had hoped it would be something new not just a decrease in the HD price...

But hey, good for those that don't have it yet.

Unhappy Re: TV Is Changing - Get A Sky+HD Box for 49

      I don't qualify for this.

Nice that they are doing this deal, and nice that the small print finally clarifies my case, so I don't waste time trying to buy the service again.

My case as an 'existing customer' is that I have Sky HD+, and Multiroom with Sky+. Upgrading the Multiroom to Sky HD+ does not qualify for the 49 deal.

Here is the small print :-

"One 49 box per household and not available if you already have SkyHD/Sky+HD box. Sky+HD box price 199 for customers not eligible for 49 box price (Sky TV and HD Pack subscriptions required)."

I succumbed! I'll worry about telling SWMBO later

I'd better start copying my daughters saved "Never Mind The Buzzcocks" on to discs for her

Thanks for that - I have now amended the news item to reflect the small print you quoted, so as everyone has the full picture. (pardon the pun)

I would imagine that there are a few hundred thousand customers trying to upgrade at this precise moment.

We had already heard that last months offer of free this and that was already denting VM's customer base. This is just going to do even more damage.
