So what we need is a letter from someone on Base or Mid, with a HD sub or a Multiroom sub to see what their letter says. Those on Max would appear to get the discount for that reason.

I think possibly the wording would be specific to that customer's circumstances / package.

When the letter says "we'll be freezing the price of your broadband as it stands now untill 1st January 2010, so you will see no increase" it also means you will see no decrease either (IMO) so there will be no decrease for the VAT reduction.

I thought that Sky subscriptions included VAT, so if it was 10, then no matter what the VAT rate, the 10 includes it. Also I may be wrong, but Sky are VAT registered in Luxembourg, therefore we wouldn't get a reduction anyway.

The only ISPs that would have to cut their rates, are those who advertise exc VAT.

I was just making the point. Sky would not have to pass on the decrease anyway, however I'm sure they would pass on an increase, wether their subs include vat or not.

No worries. If we were Sky, we would give everyone the discount, charge no VAT and send everyone a present at Christmas.

What we need is Carslberg to sponsor us.

As I already have Sky Talk, I might not even get a letter, at least not until nearer the time the increase will take effect.

I notice this has been added to their online advert -
      * Sky Broadband: From 1.3.09, Sky Broadband Base, Mid and Max will increase by 5 per month unless you have Sky Talk. Sky Talk pricing and call rates may vary, current rates can be found at sky.com/skytalk.
@PSU The already have 'top broadband product' covers you.

I thought so, I have the feeling that these letters are package based. Therefore a person on Base or Mid would have the savings mentioned if they have a Sky+HD or Multiroom subscription.

re: Price Freezes for some Loyal Customers

I've just received my letter today. I'm currently on Sky+ (no HD) and Sky Mid broadband. No Talk.

My letter states nothing about taking HD or upgrading to Max ... it states that I can benefit by taking up the telephone part of it, but that is it. And as I am currently locked into a 12 month "deal" (stupid me, joining BT ... won't do THAT again ) I can't do that anyway (not convinced I'd want to either .. I was previously with Talktalk which was much cheaper, bearing in mind half my family are also with them and therefore calls to them were free).

So basically, I am going to have to pay double for my broadband which, since the DLM fiasco a while back, has never been the same.

Hello all - new user here!
I joined Sky BB Mid just over a month ago (transferring from Orange) and I received my letter on the price rises today. It doesn't mention anything about the above credit, so what gives? Is it new users to Sky BB or new Sky subscribers in general (I've had the satellite for 5+ years)?

      Any thoughts welcomed
