Well as I complained about sky's handling of this, I'd like to apologise to sky and say thank you for listening.

Oh, and a big thanks to Satdish and Newsreader for hassling sky constantly on this until the changed their minds!

Bit odd on the sky max only freeze, as it rules out everyone on max straight away, but I'm not going to complain!!

It is my understanding, Sky were considering this before we hassled them. So it is more than likely that we cannot take the credit. Although I am pretty sure Sky would have been monitoring the forums for feedback.

It would be nice to think that we had influenced Sky though.

re: Price Freezes for some Loyal Customers

Whilst I welcome this latest announcement I personally think loyal is the wrong word to use!

There will still be many loyal customers who still get stung by this unjustifiable price increase.

Like many Mid customers I couldn't possibly benefit from taking Max because my connection's not fast enough. I've already had Skytalk Freetime and got rid because of Sky's extortionate call pricing and their blocking of the use of 1280.

Personally I stand to benefit from this but it's definitely not from anything loyalty or broadband related.....it's only by sheer luck that I have a Multiroom subscription.

If nothing else it's made me re-evaluate the current broadband market (not a bad thing) and also have an in-depth look at the money I waste with Sky on stuff I don't watch!

O2 is still looking like a promising broadband option for 12 months to me at 7.50 a month (as an O2 mobile user) with 60 cashback available via Quidco or Top Cashback making it just 2.50 per month for the year!

...but at least now I've got time to see how the broadband market develops over the next few months before finally deciding whether to jump ship or not!

      Yes and no.

The initial source said to us:

Existing customers (before 20th November) of Base, Mid and Max with HD or Multi-room will automatically recieve a 10 month discount of 5 per month on their monthly BB sub to protect them from the increase. The new prices will not be effective for these customers until 1st Jan 2010. They can permanently avoid the increase by taking a Sky Talk
Although, I guess that clearance wasn't given for the official post, or the decision hadn't been made. Either way, we got to report all of it first, which does help our members anyway.

It took me nearly an hour to decide on the thread title. We knew about this for an hour or so before we actually published the information, as we wanted it to be factually correct.

Whilst I can see your point, any customer that stays with any company for more than six months in this day and age, I class to be loyal. Exceptions of course to those who have a 12 month contract. I would class myself as a loyal customer, as I have been with Sky BB for two years or so. But, my whole point throughout this news, I was being kicked in the teeth, (as well as the hundreds or thousands not on Sky Talk) and was all set to move my broadband in March if it went ahead.

Therefore I feel we are all loyal and now we have been rewarded for it.

But as you say, there are other offers around, and if your line can support higher speeds, there are more options. But for me, I am now quite happy to stay where I am. The whole concept of those who had been with Sky for six months or less benefited was wrong, which I think nearly every other member or guest could relate to, hence why we spoke out, so to speak.

Yes, as you meet one of these conditions.

      • Have a Sky Talk subscription
      • Have a Sky+HD subscription
      • Have a Multiroom subscription
      • Already be on Sky Max
