I understand what you are saying, however, we had that information given to us, as an official stance, but unofficially, if that makes sense.

So in essence, either this information has not been passed on to the relevant people, or it was in fact wrong, at the point of obtaining it. I spent over an hour or so compiling my post on a Saturday, to ensure that it was infact what was going down, and not hearsay.

Methinks it's a case of left hand and right hand. You know what these big organisations are like.

I think you have that wrong. The broadband packages are going up by 5 but if you have Sky Talk they will give you the 5 back, this is what the letter says. Although to be fair Sky still word their letters very well or clearly, half of me thinks that do it this way on purpose.

I phoned today to cancel my complete sky sports package - the extra 5 on BB was the last straw - they offered me a 10% discount for 6 months on the sports only and also a deal if I joined skytalk, but I said no politely, so am now going to be more than 200 a year better off. They had the choice, and they lost a lot more than they tried to gain.

Is there likely to be any "Official" definitive response forthcoming on this before the stampede to O2 begins?

The earliest we could get a response would be Monday, our contact does not work Fridays.

      Hi NewsreadeR,

I've also received the earlier than expected price increase letter, have you heard anything from your contact?

      Many Thanks

      Hi

I haven't heard anything back yet. I am not going to give any dates for a reply as they never seem to materialize, so its easier to just post it as I get the information. I am on the case though.

Re: Price Freezes for some Loyal Customers

Today I had the following reply to my email

"Thank you for contacting Sky Help Centre regarding your Sky broadband package and the new price increase.
I'm really sorry for any misunderstandings in relation to the new price increase in respect to your broadband service. Please allow me this opportunity to clarify the new package price.
As you have been a Sky broadband customer since 7 September 2006 you will be affected by the price increase effective from 1 March 2009. Only new customers who registered prior to 25 November 2008 will commence with the new price increase effective from 1 January 2010. In order to view the terms and conditions please feel free to log into our website at Sky Broadband - Fast Wireless Broadband - Find Out More. for full details.
However, should you wish take our Sky talk service this fee would be waived as a means of rewarding our customers for taking additional products. Should you wish further information on our Sky talk services please visit our website at www.sky.com."

Re: Price Freezes for some Loyal Customers

Not exactly clear still, is it

If I'm reading it right, that appears to be saying customers who will still be in their first year of contract on 1st March 2009, and who joined before 25th November 2008 (i.e. joined between 2nd March and 25th November), avoid the price rises until 1st Jan 2010. Everyone else gets the hike at the end of this month.

Just confirms to me that Sky have lost the plot and I'm happy I recently left their BB (dumped Sport and Movies on TV too).
