Had that for at least two years. Think I've been scammed by Sky re the bb increase.

If you cancel doesnt that mean you cant get a mac and the cancellation of the BB cant be stopped even if I tried to reinstate within the 30 days?

Im reluctant to lose their BB, but will if they dont back down...

It certainly used to be the case that if you cancelled your Sky broadband then it couldn't be uncancelled and you had to wait, either to be reinstated or move to another ISP. I seem to remember that some while back a number of members got caught by that when they were cancelled by Sky when all they'd asked for was a MAC.

Could be that they've amended their processes now so that it is possible to undo a cancel but personally I wouldn't want to risk it.

I decided to email James Murdoch, I have this response aparently they say the only way to get the discount is via sky talk

      Dear Mr *******

Thank you for your email addressed to James Murdoch, regarding the price increase to your Broadband subscription. I have been asked to investigate and respond to your email on his behalf.

Firstly, I am sorry to learn that you are unhappy with the increase to the price of your Broadband subscription.

I can confirm that the only reason that your Broadband subscription would be discounted to 5.00 per month would be if you subscribed to the Sky Talk service. Unfortunately, having a multiroom subscription does not make you eligible to receive this discount.

I am sorry that my response could not be more favourable at this time.

Should you require further assistance please do not hesitate to contact me on the above email address. Please note that, should I not hear from you within 7 days, I will assume that you are happy with my response and this case will be closed.

      Kind regards

Re: Price Freezes for some Loyal Customers

In the words of Vicki pollard, yes but, no but! I had a letter from sky saying that broadband was increasing by 5 but that as I was a skytalk customer it wouldn't affect me. However in the next paragraph it said that the tv packages were going up on 1st March by 5, Now I only joined sky in November and there shouldn't be any price increase for me for a year. So I emailed them. Back came the answer that as I was a skytalk customer there was no increase and to ignore the letter!!! I think they misunderstood the broadband potential increase with the tv increase, so said as much in an emailback to them. Got a telephone call saying that there was no price increase at all so ignore the letter. The next price increase would be in September and then only a couple of pounds????? They would put this in writing. Nothing came. So I've written to them and am awaiting a reply. They actually listed the direct debit payments I would be paying and it went up in March. So I don't know what is happening.

So, like me, it looks like without any written proof from Sky we don't have a leg to stand on.

We will try and get an official version of what the criteria actually is. As far as we are aware, we had already published this in the OP.

I don't doubt that the information you posted was correct but it would be difficult for people to argue their case by saying they saw the info on the excellent and always informative Skyuser.co.uk.
