BB certainly (and probably also phone) are VAT registered in Luxembourg

Indeed. Sky Broadband is provided by Sky Broadband S.A a company registered in Luxembourg where the VAT on such services is unchanged (at 15%), so no reduction.

Whilst Luxembourg continues to defy the EU VAT reform which aims to shift the application of VAT for B2C services from the country of a service
supplier to the country of consumption, it will remain attractive for companies such as Sky, AOL, Amazon, Skype et al. That's a lot of revenue lost to the UK

Has anybody else who only "qualifies" by having a Multiroom subscription received a letter yet?

I have not yet received my letter advising whether my cost will go up or not. I'm on Mid with Mulitroom and SkyHD. My letter may have got lost as we have been having issues with the post.

Got my letter today saying price was going up by 5 if you never had Sky Talk, but as I had a Sky HD subscription my 5 rise was on hold till Jan 2010.

Trouble is I don't have a HD subscription anymore, don't want to phone them to query it either.

What do you think will happen, charged or not charged the extra 5.

The "qualify by virtue of your HD Subscription" letters were well over a week later than the ones reported here containing "Qualified by having BB Max"....so it does looks like they are going out in batches!

Yes it is! Sky have reduced all prices to adjust for reduced VAT!
No it hasn't! they aint reduced the VAT on BB-read my post again
they may have reduced it on Sky+ et al, but NOTon BB.

I'll reiterate my post again and say it's inexcusable to put the price of BB up, but reduce the rest of Sky for 'loyalty' when you already have Sky+ and BB too, when you HAVE to have Sky to have their BB!

Sky Talk and Sky BB are registered for VAT in Luxembourg (which already had 15% VAT) so there is nothing to reduce!

Thanks for the early and 100% accurate information about this.
Well I, for one, am going to leave in March (or the earliest opportunity thereafter, contract permitting) because we don't have Sky Talk and as such they are going to put the price UP by 5 ... let's just say that again, I have fewer services so they are going to charge us MORE!

I'm not stupid, I understand in general terms that Sky makes money from SkyTalk but the idea of charging more for less is offensively ludicrous ... it seems I (and others) are collateral damage in a war between Sky & BT.

Re: Price Freezes for some Loyal Customers

I'm confused (nothing new there) I have Sky Talk Unlimited, Broadband Max, and Sky TV (entertainment + sports) and in January I'll be upgrading to Sky+HD. I've received a letter from Sky telling me that the cost of my package will increase by 5 from 1st March 2009 (the increase is in the TV package from 50 to 55)). I understood that if you were a "loyal" customer then your prices would be frozen until 2010. (I started taking Sky BB max and Talk Unlimited) in November this year.

      Any explanation would be appriciated.

      Thanks.
