Letter arrived with me from Sky today saying "No increase in BB until 2010 due to being a Loyal Customer having SkyHD subscription"!

Thanks for the early and 100% accurate information about this.

      No worries.

Sometimes we cannot say much about our sources, but the amount of time that we actually put into this announcement, was purely because we wanted it to be accurate.

I received a letter yesterday saying my costs will double as clearly a customer of Sky for 18 years isn't very loyal It's still cheap but at the end of my minimum contract I'll show them what loyalty means not as though dropping my TV package to a basic one and moving to another BB supplier will make any difference at all!

re: Price Freezes for some Loyal Customers

I think these are very interesting times and Sky is running a significant risk in chasing an ever increasing share of wallet (yes, that's what marketing calls it) or ARPU (the accountants equivalent).

There's a really old marketing principle called brick walling. Basically you get customers to add products to the point where they are locked in. What I suspect Sky are finding though is that should a customer decide to knock a brick out, the whole wall can collapse.

In my case I got fed up with them messing up my broadband connection so I moved ISP. That got me to think about the TV side and as a result I've dropped sport and movies. I'm now wondering if I need all 6 packs and have started to consider freesat as I fancy HD but I'm not prepared to add the extortionate cost of multiroom HD to my Sky bill.

This is why you should always avoid these bundles where you can (Sky Talk/rental/BB/TV) they may be cheaper in the short term but you should take a long term view.

It's a total failure with me as I always take things which are best for my situation! For example I cancelled SkyTalk over the 0845, 0870 and 1280 issues (and BT gave me a free printer to come back - thus rewarding me for my disloyalty in leaving them in the first place!). I did then take Sky's HD Mix and have now been rewarded for this!

I would be reluctant to leave SkyBB (as it is one of the best services I have had) but I will consider it again in 2010!

I knew the 10 for Max would never last, pity, Sky doesn't seem to think there's a recession starting.

Like others I'll simply drop the sports package when the increase kicks in - they have chosen a bad time to make this move with VAT down.

Must agree,we have been loyal customer since 1991 but will have to pay the extra in march, its the headline "Price Freeze for Loyal Customers" which is a farce.
His name was nut, Mr P Nut.
